How Overwatch 2 Season 10 Hero Balances Change Reinhardt, Wrecking Ball, and More

Expect plenty of fresh changes with Season 10!

Since the announcement of Overwatch 2‘s first free hero, Venture, we’ve tried them out firsthand in their trial weekend. With our feedback, the Blizzard team has adjusted the hero and other heroes for the upcoming Season 10. Here are all the details.

All Hero Balances in Overwatch 2 Season 10

Overwatch 2 constantly evolves, with new heroes joining the roster and changing maps and game modes. However, the most important little changes are to the heroes’ kits and abilities since they ensure the game stays fair and fun. With those ideas in mind, the development team continues to make balance adjustments to heroes, and we’ll see plenty of them in the upcoming season. These are the few they’ve announced so far:

Venture

We only had a brief taste of what Venture can do in their trial weekend. However, that taste was plenty to show us what they are capable of and how well they work with the other heroes.

Unlike some heroes in the first release, Venture seems very well-balanced already. Their kit is unique to other damages, but they aren’t so overpowered to the point where they cannot be defeated. Even so, they’ll receive a few changes on their full release:

  • Some burst damage from Drill Dash and Clobber shifts into damage over time
  • Reduces in the vertical knockback of Tectonic Shock

Like Illari, their gun does a lot of burst damage, so the slight adjustment is well warranted. The damage over time, similar to Junker Queen’s knife, will actually create a lot more potential for them.

Reinhardt & Junker Queen

Speaking of Junker Queen, she, alongside her fellow tank, Reinhardt, will also see some subtle adjustments in the upcoming season. Their ults can be very effective, but can be easily messed up if not calculated just right. These adjustments will make Carnage and Earthshatter have more impact and “cut through better.”

Wrecking Ball

Some of the biggest hero changes we’ll see in season 10 are for the pesky little hamster, Wrecking Ball. Unless you really know how to use his kit, he can be one of the hardest heroes to play. However, with some of these adjustments, he might just be worth trying again:

  • Reduces in cooldown for Grappling Hook when not entering ramming speed
  • An ability to retract himself to the spot the Grapple is attached by holding down Primary Fire or Jump
  • Adaptive Shields reactivates to transfer up to 300 overhealth to nearby allies, capped at 75 overhealth per ally

His Adaptive Shield ability in particular will now give him a better way to protect his team, rather than being a ‘nonexistent’ tank.

Moira, Illari, Lifeweaver & Lucio

Even though the support role is mainly for healing the team, they can still be overpowered in the damage department. Illari proves this firsthand with her pinpoint headshots. We’ll see some shifts in her abilities, as well as some other supports, that minimize some damage to hone in on more healing instead.

Although not all the adjustments were announced yet, Moira, Ilari, Lifewaver, and Lucio were confirmed to be getting balances. Here is an overall look at what to expect:

  • Reduces Illari’s Primary Fire recovery time from – 0.2 to 0.25 seconds
  • Increases in Illari’s Secondary Fire ability with HPS from 105 to 115
  • Lifeweaver will get buffs
  • Shifts in some of Moria and Lucio’s damage to their healing

Sombra & Tracer

Sombra and Tracer are too of the most frustrating backline damages to face. However, they only so effective if the player has the skills to make them so. Even so, there devs are working on making them feel even more fair for everyone with these minor changes:

  • Reduces to Sombra’s Virus damage over time amount from 100 to 90
  • Nerfs to Tracer’s kit overall to make her more punishable

These are just a few of the balances to expect in the upcoming season, but there are bound to be plenty more. We’ll be able to hop in and try them out for ourselves come April 16 with Season 10’s release, so get ready!
