Golems are a unique boss in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that is immune to all damage except when hitting its weakspot. This article will guide you through the Golem fight, its weakpoints, and how to deal with its enraged state. Here’s how to beat Golems in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to Defeat Golems Easily in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Golems are immune to both physical and magick damage, and you can only damage them by hitting one of their medallion weakspots. The weakspots glow bright blue, and they’re located on:
- The top of their left hand.
- The front of their right thigh.
- The right side of their chest.
- The bottom of their left foot (Accessible only when it kneels).
- The top of their back.
Whether you’re encountering your first Golem in the Batthal desert or through this Guerco Cave shortcut to Batthal, I found they can be a difficult fight if you’re not prepared.
Hitting five Golem weakpoints with spells or weapon attacks is the only way to kill a Golem. Once a medallion has taken enough damage it is destroyed. I highly recommend climbing a Golem to precisely take out the weakspots. That’s why Thief and Fighter are the best melee classes against a Golem while Archer and Magick Archer can precisely target medallions at range. For other vocations, Golems will also stand still for a few seconds after a heavy attack making this the perfect opportunity to hit their weakspoints.
Golem Attack Pattern in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Golems love to stomp with their foot and swing with their hand so just run around them and climb or hit their weak spots when they power down. However, once a Golem goes to about 50% HP it will become enraged causing their blue lines to glow orange. When this happens, once a Golem starts charging up you’ll hear a sizzling sound and you need to back away and go behind them.
When they’re enraged, Golems fire a series of projectiles from their face, dealing heavy damage. They’ll even fire smaller projectiles from their face, causing craters in the ground with delayed explosions.
So, in short, the best way to take them out is to stay behind them while focusing on their medallion weakspots. Climbing works great but you can also use ranged attacks or wait for them to power down after a few attacks and then capitalize on weakspots with slower classes like Warriors and Sorcerers. Don’t forget to pick up all the medallions you destroyed which serve as enhancing equipment.
