Act 2 offers a few new challenges and enemies for players, one of which is the second boss in the stage: the Insect Queen. She is slightly more difficult to deal with than The Cursed, but it’s nothing impossible. Here’s how to defeat the Insect Queen in Death Must Die.
How to Defeat the Insect Queen in Death Must Die
Insect Queen arrives at 14:00 on the stage. She has a few characteristics that you should be aware of that will help you deal with her more efficiently. She can be tough to beat if you’re not paying attention to some details, and it took me a while to get everything down.
Insect Queen has an attack that unleashes three large flames that go out in a cone in front of her, with the middle one being aimed straight at you. It’s important to note that these fires go through pillars, so you have to dodge them. Her second attack is the laser beam, similar to the Laser Cats. That one doesn’t go through the pillar, as you can see below:
Insect Queen also has very strong support from her minions, who occasionally appear. As soon as you see the tether between an Elite unit and the Insect Queen (like in the image above), you have to work on breaking it by killing the Elite. Now, there might be a problem when the Elite is in a bubble that protects it from damage, but you still must work on killing it because that tether is actually healing the Insect Queen.
This is especially important when the Insect Queen drops below around 33% HP because that’s when the enrage timer goes on. And then, it becomes a problem because you’ll have these… Hobgoblins, as I like to call them… attack you from everywhere.
How to Beat Insect Queen Minions in Death Must Die
In the absence of the official name, I have to refer to these minions as Hobgoblins because that’s exactly what they remind me of. They fly around and toss bombs at you. When you first encounter them, it may be scary and chaotic, but their attack pattern is easy to counter. They toss their bombs in front of you, so you just need to move around in circles constantly or at least go zig-zag, and their bombs will keep missing.
