Unfortunately for us, Shiny Ponyta appears to only have an appearance rate of 0.2%. Galarian Ponyta has an increased appearance rate of 1.6% due to its rare status. You’ll have to encounter a lot of Ponyta before you find a shiny one.

A Valorous Hero Event

During the in game Valor team themed event, Galarian Ponyta will be appearing as a 1-Star Raid Pokemon. Ponyta will be in the lineup as a possible field research Pokemon Encounter. Completing the Special Research for the event will also give you a chance to catch the Candela accessory adorned Ponyta. This Ponyta has an increased shiny rate of 1.6% so you may get lucky to encounter it.

Best Way to Encounter Shiny Ponyta

The best way to encounter a shiny Ponyta is during a Ponyta Community Day. At this time there will be an increased shiny appearance rate of 4%, which is a huge increase from .2%. You’ll also be encountering more of them in the wild. This will be the best time to use any Daily Adventure Incense, Incense and Lure Modules to increase the amount of Ponyta that appear around you.
