How to Complete a Light in the Dark in WoW: The War Within

This quest is part of the last chapter of the main campaign, and the overall storyline shares the same name. However, this section seems to be especially buggy right now, with multiple players reporting issues on the official forums. Here’s how to complete a Light in the Dark in WoW: The War Within.

The quest A Light in the Dark is actually a scenario that you’ll run through with Alleria, Anduin, and Faerin. Unfortunately, this scenario is prone to bugs that can stop you from completing it. Your first objective is lighting two braziers, but Faerin can glitch and not light them when you interact with them. It seems like this tends to happen when you use her Call to Aid ability shortly before trying to light the brazier. Like most glitches in this scenario, all you can do is leave the instance and try it again, hoping that you won’t run into the same problem.

Additional Bugs You Might Encounter

Another problem is one you might run into if you die. When you release your spirit and revive at your body, the Hope Meter might not refill. This teleports you back to the ship, which means you’ll likely need to repeat the part you were working on. While this issue isn’t always enough to keep you from completing the scenario, it’s certainly annoying.

Finally, the issues I personally experienced include the NPCs not following me to the Broken Queen and the priory’s interior not loading the cutscene properly. For the NPC issue, it seemed like trying to jump down to the enemy prevented them from following me. I had to backtrack to get them to properly continue to the Broken Queen. 

As for the cutscene, it seems like entering too quickly can glitch this section. I didn’t wait for Faerin to finish her dialogue at the top of the stairs. So, when I entered the interior, I was in the normal room you’d see when doing the Priory of the Sacred Flame dungeon. In this case, the glitch was resolved by running back to the entrance, which let me hit the cutscene trigger from behind and get it to play.

Once you get to the end of the scenario, with or without some issues in the middle, you’ll finish the main campaign. From there, you talk to a couple NPCs, and wait for the next set of campaign quests to be added in the future.
