How to Complete Halls of the First Dawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Here's how to complete Halls of the First Dawn in Dragon's Dogma 2 with information on how the Unmoored World timer works.

Halls of the First Dawn is both the final and the most extensive quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It involves evacuating major settlements in Vermund, Battahl, and the Volcanic Island. Here’s how to complete Halls of the First Dawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Once you reach the true ending area/Unmoored World and speak to Rothais at the Seafloor Shrine, the Halls of the First Dawn quest starts, and you have to evacuate five major settlements.

On the way to the Seafloor Shrine, you’ll encounter undead enemies, but more importantly, there will be several chests along the road. I highly recommend you open them up for Ferrystones, which are crucial to this quest for quickly traveling around. You can also buy more from the Seafloor Shrine merchants, and I would even use Wyrmslife Crystals to buy more from the Dragonforged. Once you speak to Rothais and the quest starts, you need to evacuate the following locations:

  • Bakbattahl: Speak to Nadinia in her temple or Ser Menella in front of the Temple to evacuate Battahl.
  • Vernworth: Speak to Captain Brant at the Inn or Sven in his chambers to evacuate Vermund.
  • Sacred Arbor: Speak to Taliesin in his chambers at the Sacred Arbor to evacuate it (I brought a pawn who speaks Elvish to make the quest easier).
  • Volcanic Island Camp: Speak to Ernesto at the camp’s main entrance to evacuate the region.
  • Excavation Site: East of the Volcanic Island Camp, speak to the soldier fighting a Golem in the Excavation Site to start evacuating pawns.

You have 10 days to evacuate all regions as the brine fog around the map starts devouring parts of the world. If you wait too long, this can erase areas like the Excavation Site or Sacred Arbor first. I don’t recommend resting to pass the time since this progresses the fog. Instead, use All Heal Elixirs to recover the loss gauge and regularly switch out pawns to keep them healthy. You can slow down the fog and stop it completely by doing Red Beam boss fights.

How to Finish Halls of the First Dawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Once you’ve evacuated all regions, you can either wait 12 days, and the game will automatically end, but you’ve most likely been finishing Red Beam events as well. Finishing all red beam events and meeting Phaesus where Talos the Gigantus fell during the Guardian Gigantus quest unlocks the final red beam. This one will be at Seafloor Shrine, and interacting with it ends the game, so don’t examine it until you’re ready. As for the other red beams, they’re as follows:

  • Bakbattahl Beam: Starts the A Scholar’s Pursuit quest, where you’ll run around the city battling regular enemies to destroy the Dragon Statue.
  • Vernworth Beam: West of Vernworth. I dropped to it from the guard ramparts in the royal part of the city. This one is a Dragon Purgener boss fight.
  • Sacred Arbor Beam: Snake/Worm Purgener boss fight.
  • Volcanic Island: Near the Volcanic Island Camp. This one is another Dragon Purgener boss fight.
  • Seafloor Shrine: Appears last after interacting with Talos and ends the game.

Completing red beam events slows down the fog, and completing the first four completely stops the fog. Once you stop the fog, you can use the rest of the 12 days to complete anything from the endgame checklist you missed. Then, you can either wait for the timer to run out or end the game by examining the Seafloor Shrine beam and going into New Game Plus.
