Destiny 2 In the Hot Seat Event Challenge Guide: Solstice of Heroes 2023

In the Hot Seat is an Event Challenge for Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes with some progression issues. Here's how to complete it.

Ever since Bungie introduced Event Challenges to Destiny 2, they’ve been fine-tuning what’s a reasonable grind for the mildly rewarding activity set. With Solstice of Heroes 2023, they’ve reached what might be a happy medium. Most reward you for simply engaging outside of the seasonal and expansion content. The In the Hot Seat Event Challenge is one that asks you to play in the new Neptune space, where you’ll play certain activities to earn Silver Leaves. Here’s how to gain progression and complete the Triumph.

The fastest way to complete the In the Hot Seat challenge in Destiny 2 is by completing Lost Sectors (10% progress each), the Hyper Current Strike (30% progress), and defeating Nezerec in the Root of Nightmares Raid (70% progress). Your rewards for completing the challenge are x1 Event Ticket, x1 Enhancement Prism, x2 Kindling.

What Activities Give Progression Toward In the Hot Seat?

In the Hot Seat asks you to “complete activities on Neptune to earn Silver Leaves.” As mentioned above, these are the most reliable methods for completing the Triumph:

The issue is that challenge progress is inconsistent. Sometimes a Public Event awards 10% progression. Other times, it doesn’t. Terminal Overload doesn’t progress the Triumph, and neither do Vex Incursion or patrols. Bungie is aware of the issues surrounding Neptune’s core activities and is working on a fix. If you’re having trouble earning progress via the methods, the activities listed above are surefire ways to complete In the Hot Seat.

How to Complete In the Hot Seat Without Lightfall

If you’re playing Destiny 2 without Lightfall, you’ll need to complete the introduction mission. After that, run Lost Sectors and complete Public Events on Neptune. In my testing, Public Events fairly consistently awarded 10% progress, as did Lost Sectors, so those will be your main — and indeed only — means to complete In the Hot Seat.

That’s how to complete In the Hot Seat in Destiny 2, even if it takes a little longer than necessary and requires activities you may have already done a thousand times. After all, grinding is just part of it. We’ve covered some of the other fun content you can do in our guides on fishing and getting the perfect roll on the Crowning Duologue Rocket Launcher.
