How to Complete the Masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Here's how to complete the Masquerade and find the false Sovran in Dragon's Dogma 2.

The Masquerade is one of the main social intrigue quests in Vernworth. I’m here to guide you through getting the royal attire so you can attend, as well as how to find the secret door to finish the quest. Here’s how to complete the Masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to Find Royal Clothes for the Masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As soon as you start the Masquerade quest to meet the fake Sovran, Captain Brant will give you the Masquerade Mask so you can attend the event. However, he’ll also advise you to find some royal clothes so that you can actually enter the event. The two fastest and most straightforward ways to find royal clothes are as follows.

Method 1: Sven’s Ornate Box Side Quest

Meeting Sven in the town square and buying the Ornate Box for him allows you to visit him at the fountain statue in the middle of the square for a few days. He’ll give you various rewards, but on the final day of the side quest, he’ll give you the royal attire set for the Masquerade.

Method 2: Sneaking in the Masquerade Hall Before the Event

You can also sneak into the ballroom before the Masquerade in the early morning or late at night. If you take a left or right before entering the ballroom, you can go around it to one of the two backrooms. Inside one, there will be a chest containing the royal attire set. The chest is at the location in the picture above, and it looks like the one in the picture below.

I recommend the sneaking-in method if you want a quick way to get the set. Either way, you get the clothes, and you need to equip both the chest and leg pieces as well as the mask to enter the event.

Where is the False Sovran at the Masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The Sovran leaves the ball with a secret door in the back so let’s go through the quest and find it. First, to attend the Masquerade you need to be at the ballroom around sunset. I would don the clothes and the mask before entering and you’ll know the event has officially started if a cutscene plays. The cutscene will show patrons in the ballroom and a mysterious false Sovran figure going to one of the backrooms.

Second, if you follow the false Sovran to the backrooms, you’ll see that he’s completely gone. The trick is that he went through a secret door found at the back, right between the two rooms and I marked the location on the mini-map above. I struggled for 15 minutes to find it, but you can simply enter it by trying to walk into the wall between the two backrooms, and the false wall will swing open.

All you have to do now is continue past the secret door across the bridge and enter the neighboring building. This turns out to be a back entrance to the Rose Chateau Borderlrie, which begins a story cutscene with the owner. Throughout the cutscene, you’ll learn new information about the false Sovran, and the mission will end. Report to Captain Brand for your reward.

That concludes my guide on how to complete the Masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2. I would also check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 library for more guides like best pawn vocations or how to unlock Mystic Spearhand.
