Ark Survival Ascended: How to Create a Dedicated Server

There are numerous ways to approach the game besides single-player. You can join official servers for online play and also create non-dedicated and dedicated servers yourself. They allow your community to play the game even though the host isn’t online. So, how do you create one?

Studio Wildcard is partnered with Nitrado for the creation of dedicated servers. This is a game server hosting service that allows you to buy and maintain dedicated servers for Ark Survival Ascended. Therefore, if this is something you’re interested in with your community of friends, you’ll have to head over to Nitrado’s ASA dedicated server page.

There, you can buy a dedicated server for ASA with 26 slots and choose between a 3-day, 30-day, and 90-day package. Supported platforms for now include PC, but console options will be available once they launch in December. You can use as many mods as you like and can even monetize through donations, “VIP” roles, reserved slots, items, and more. I recommend heading over to Nitrado’s website for specific and sensitive information.

Ark Survival Ascended Server Hosting Guide

As for the actual creation of a server, this is done in-game, and you can choose between single-player, dedicated, or non-dedicated servers. Ark Survival Ascended server hosting begins with creating one through the main menu, as I’ll show you below:

  • From the main menu, click on “Create Game.”
  • Select your map and set the options to your preference.
  • In the bottom right, choose between the available options (Dedicated servers are exclusive via Nitrado for now).
  • Choose a name and password for the server.

Non-dedicated servers will require coordination, as the session will last only as long as the host is online. If you want the server to remain active when the host isn’t playing, they must remain AFK. Back when I was playing Ark Survival Evolved, my group would sometimes emulate a dedicated server with the host having two computers. One for gameplay and one for hosting the game session 24/7.

We hope this Ark Survival Ascended server hosting guide was useful for you. The game is drastically more fun online than in single-player, so I recommend either joining a server or creating one with friends. That said, the decision between creating dedicated or non-dedicated servers is based on your needs and resources in the end.
