How to Defeat All Three Princes in Wild Bastards

Run right towards the Princes and beat them at their own game

One of the key mechanics of Wild Bastards to make stages more threatening are the three princes and Chaste who arrive on each planet after a countdown. These princes are fearsome foes that will often prevent you from looting a planet clean. However, it’s possible to defeat the three princes McNeil, Fransisco, and Barrabas with some neat little tricks in Wild Bastards. Let’s go over how to deal with all three of them easily.

How to Defeat Three Princes in Wild Bastards

Despite their boss status, the three princes are all susceptible to some simple strategies that allow you to bypass their boss fights without having to directly fight them:

  • Casino’s Stunt kills one random enemy on the map and this includes any of the three princes. The princes will generally be the first spawn on the map, so firing it off as soon as the first enemy arrives is the way to go. If you want to be extra careful, you can take care of all other enemies before using the ability to kill the Prince as the last remaining enemy on the map.
  • Smoky’s stunt or fireballs light up an enemy until they die and this also applies to Princes. You’ll have to wait a lot and hide while their large HP pools slowly tick down. This is easier with McNeil and Fransisco, but harder to pull off with Barrabas.
  • Use Fletch’s ally mod. Fletch has a unique mod that gives her arrows a 25% chance to subvert enemies and this is effective against the princes as well.
  • The last brute force method is to try to burst the Princes down with Billy the Squid’s Stunt which gives him extremely high damage burst shots.

  • Find an angle to abuse. This is basically a tip you can apply to any character given the right circumstances. Sometimes the Prince’s AIs will go haywire and they’ll just keep roaming the same area trying to find you. Not as effective against Barrabas, but works fairly well against the other two at night.

These are all situational and will only work if you have those specific characters available with decent enough mods to survive the encounter. Note that the Prince comes along with a fairly strong posse, and your main criteria for judging these fights should be your ability to deal with their allies.

Here are some details about the Three Princes:

  • McNeil uses simple laser attacks, which can be dealt with from a distance. He has high HP and damage but no special ability to make him a major threat. Defeating him gets you 100 Infamy. The mobs he spawns with are often harder to deal with.
  • Fransisco has homing projectiles that will curve and follow you. She has higher HP and damage than McNeil and also rides around on a horse. Defeating her will net you 200 Infamy.
  • Barrabas is the most powerful sibling, and he launches multiple homing orbs toward you that cause chain explosions on impact. These can easily destroy cover and terrain. He has very high HP, very high damage, and is relentless. Defeating him gets you 300 Infamy.
