Everybody loves streaks in Call of Duty. Well, almost everybody. And in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the game is going back to a pure scorestreak system. First pioneered in Black Ops 2, scorestreaks are a way to incentivize objective play and generally reward people for doing more than slaying out. But how do you earn them? Let’s discuss.
How to Earn and Use Scorestreaks in Black Ops 6
Scorestreaks, as their name would suggest, are streaks you get by earning Score. Score in Black Ops 6 is anything beneficial you do in a match. That includes:
- Kills: 100 Score generally, 125 for kills on objectives
- Objective Play: 200 Score for enemy Domination points, 25 Score for capturing a Hardpoint, between 50-100 Score for other objective captures
- Clearing an objective: 25 Score
- Assists: 50 Score
- Flashbang/Concussion Grenade Hit: 15 Score per enemy affected
- Flashbang/Concussion Grenade Assist: 50 Score per enemy
- Friendly Field Upgrade Use: 25 Score per use
- Non-lethal Scorestreak rewards (UAV/Counter UAV): 15 Score per enemy killed while effect is active
As you may have guessed, it’s easier to get Scorestreaks in objective game modes like Domination or Hardpoint, where you can get kills on an objective, capture it, or play around it for additional Score. Should the Kill Confirmed mode return, picking up tags for your team and denying enemy tags will also award Score. The only mode where kills are all that matter is in Team Deathmatch.
TDM is back to being a 100 Score-per-kill mode, though you can always supplement your Score with stuns, flashes, Field Upgrades assists, kill assists, etc. As for what you can put that score to, there are only six Scorestreaks available as of beta launch.
Once you actually have a Scorestreak, you can use it by selecting it with the D-Pad and pressing right or by pressing 3, 4, or 5 by default on mouse and keyboard.
All Scorestreaks in Black Ops 6
If you’re familiar with the Black Ops series selection of Scorestreaks, there’s not much here to surprise you, though there are a few ideas from other Call of Duty titles at play.
- Scout Pulse: 400 Score. A personal radar ping within a limited radius. Lasts 15 seconds.
- RC-XD: 450 Score. A remote-controlled car with a bomb attached to it. You drive it and choose when it explodes or wait until the fuse burns down.
- UAV: 675 Score. A periodic radar sweep that pings the map with enemy locations, provided they aren’t using Ghost and are moving. Can be shot down. Lasts 30 seconds.
- Counter UAV: 700 Score. Blocks enemy radar for 30 seconds or until shot down.
- Watchdog Helo: 1,100 Score. Calls a helicopter that follows you around, killing anything it can see.
- Hellstorm: 1,200 Score: Calls in a cluster missile.
There are two perks that can boost your ability to get streaks easier. Dispatcher in the middle slot (it’s green) reduces the cost of all non-lethal Scorestreaks by 150-175, depending on the streak. Bankroll in the third slot (it’s red) grants a free 150 Score at the start of every life, and it stacks with Dispatcher, and applies to all streaks. In other words, you can start with an effective 300 extra Score each life if you use a full suite of non-lethal streaks.
One last note: Scorestreaks don’t loop, meaning you can’t spam UAV into Counter UAV into Helicopter over and over again in a single life. If you want a new set of streaks, you’ll need to die and start fresh. While I’m sad you can’t have total control of the radar or the skies with endless UAVs and Hunter Killer Drones (bring back the Blops 2 streaks), Black Ops 6 moves so fast, and I’m washed up enough that getting new streaks happens pretty often for me.
There will be plenty more to talk about when it comes to Scorestreaks when Black Ops 6 officially releases on October 25. In the meantime, stay tuned to our guides hub for more.
