All Frostpunk 2 players have probably experienced the ‘Storage Limit Reached’ error while there’s clearly still room for more. Well, the issue is in the Coal Thumpers and their piles. In this guide, I’ll provide you with tips on how to fix ‘Storage Limit Reached’ in Frostpunk 2, including all the steps necessary.
Frostpunk 2: How to Fix ‘Storage Limit Reached’ Error
As I already mentioned, it’s all about the Coal Thumpers that collect resources into piles (560 Coal Piles/10h), which have their limits. If you don’t have enough Gathering Posts for your Coal Thumper piles, then you’ll get the ‘Storage Limit Reached’ error. This can happen even if you clearly still have room in your storage. So to fix this issue simply follow this rule of thumb: have at least four Gathering Posts for every two Thumpers to ensure that resources are collected efficiently and do not pile up.
You may ask why this happens. Well, the piles from the Coal Thumpers have their own maximum size, which is determined by the game as the storage limit. You can manually remove the extra coal or any other resource from the piles, so that the Thumpers can produce more. Of course, you can hire new workers to remove any extra resource from the piles, but I noticed that it’s simply better to use Gathering Posts to automate the process. You can build Gathering Posts in the “Resources” menu, using the following materials:
- 15x Wood
- 5x Steal
In the future, when your city grows and resource demands increase, I’d definitely invest more resources into building additional storage facilities, such as Resource Depots or Large Resource Depots. These buildings are also available in the “Resources” menu and have the following crafting recipes:
- Resource Depot:
- 40x Wood
- 20x Steal
- Large Resource Depot:
- 150x Wood
- 75x Steal
