King’s saga continues, and, this time, the building blocks aren’t made out of candy.
A combination of the match-3 concept of King’s other major mobile title, Candy Crush Saga and Little Details’ vegetable-munching puzzle game Patchmania (see review here), Blossom Blast Saga is a turn for the ultra-cute, with bright colorful graphics in primary colors, and sparkly flowers that explode into bloom if you link them just the right way.
Like Candy Crush, it’s possible to rack up enough points the minimum number of stars (1) to pass on to the next level, or to go for gold (3). There’s also a global scoreboard where you can see where you rank amongst your friends.
Here are some tips on getting a full string of triple stars!
1. If at first you don’t succeed…
It’s important to note that very seldom are mobile games solely an exercise in skill – in spite of what my mother likes to think. Each level replay will throw you some new combination here or there, and sooner or later you’re bound to get a major blossom blast session started. Don’t worry about losing a Heart, they’ll always come back.
2. Get social!
The more friends you have in your Facebook circle playing Blossom Blast, the more lives you can share around between yourselves and the longer you can keep trying bashing through levels (because let’s face it, staying stuck on the same one over and over again just isn’t fun). Plus, you have the added benefit of seeing how many high scores you’re beating as you run through the path.
3. Don’t use your items unless you absolutely need to
Fight! Fight! It’s a strong compulsion because these games were made with micro-transactions in mind, but it’s possible to keep playing without ever touching your wallet – just like with Candy Crush. Half the time, the only reason I end up buying 5 more buckets of water in a losing game is because I tapped it by accident. You can always replay, and there is always a good chance of winning without ever touching extra items.
4. Make sure you know your objectives!
It’s easy to forget sometimes in the rush to stack the biggest blooms that you can, that the game won’t finish unless you accomplish something specific. There are only a few modes (especially in the beginning) so make sure you remember that big blooms are important, but not as important and finishing off your objectives first, whether it’s exploding the big buds or pulling up weeds. You can still lose after getting enough points for 3 stars without completing the objective!
5. Sometimes it’s better not to make the biggest flower you can
Location, location, location. Sure, sometimes you’ll have more flowers off to the side that you can keep linking, but there’s a big bud right next to the second-to-last flower. Make that your priority. In all likelihood, that chain is already big enough to set off a big bloom.
6. Be careful about hacks
With every popular new King game, there comes a brand new slew of ways to cheat the wait. Generally, it’s as easy as putting your phone on Airplane mode and changing the time… but there have been plenty of websites and Reddit threads offering unlimited gold bars and lives, etc. I… wouldn’t. I honestly wouldn’t. All you lose is time by playing the way the game should be played, and you won’t have to worry about any other information the hack might be accessing at the same time. Always be wary of a hack that requires you to install anything new onto your device.
Blossom Blast Saga is an exceptionally simple game to pick up and start playing, but if you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment and I’ll be happy to see how I can help!
