How to Get Gargantua Hide in FFXIV

A new expansion means a bunch of crafting materials have been added for you to use. For Leatherworkers, there’s a new set of skins and hides that you need to acquire to level your craft. If you’re in the Level 95-100 range for Leatherworking, you want to know how to get Gargantua Hide in FFXIV.

FFXIV: Where to Find or Purchase Gargantua Hide

Gargantua Hide is a material dropped from the Gargantua in Living Memory on Asyle Volcane (X: 36, Y: 20). They tend to spawn in the section around the Aetheryte, and I found most of them along the edges of this area. Since they look like flaming yetis, they’re fairly easy to spot, especially once you finish the MSQ in this area. Like most hides and skins, you pick up an average of 2-4 hides when they drop. However, you might kill multiple without having a single hide drop for you.

Purchase Options for Gargantua Hide

Luckily, if you don’t want to farm Gargantua Hides yourself, you have some options for purchasing them. Naturally, the Marketboard sells crafting materials like hides and skins. The downside is that you can’t predict the price or availability of them. You might find a good deal one day, then end up spending too much Gil the next.

Your other option for purchasing Gargantua Hides is the Gemstone Trader in Living Memory. At Rank 1 in Fates, you have access to Gargantua Hides for 3 Bicolor Gemstones per piece. Additionally, once you hit Rank 4 in Fates for all new zones, you’ll be able to purchase the crafting materials sold in each of those zones from the Gemstone Traders in Tuliyollal and Solution Nine.
