Nightmares in Hades 2 are one of the most important resources in the late game once you start unlocking and upgrading weapon aspects. You’ll need plenty of them to expand your mythical arsenal, but how do you actually get them? Here’s how to get Nightmare in Hades 2.
How to Find Nightmare in Hades 2
You can get Nightmares in two ways in Hades 2. One is by completing Fear runs, and the other is through the Nightmare Cauldron Incantation, which allows you to buy them from the Broker. First off, Fear runs are similar to Heat runs in the original game, and you unlock them by defeating Chronos once. From there, you can modify your runs with Fear and make them harder by increasing Fear. Completing Fear runs with increasing Fear levels will unlock Nightmares.
As for the incantation, I saw that it became available at one point after I beat Chronos a couple of times. Essentially, it allowed me to purchase Nightmares from the Broker once per run for 1000 Bones. This means that Bones become a drastically more important resource in Hades 2 late game for upgrading weapon aspects.
I highly recommend you be on the lookout for them and use weapons that have the Gathering of Ancient Bones bonus. In short, buying Nightmares once per run from the Broker for 1000 Bones and getting them from increasing levels of Fear runs is the best way to farm them.
What Is Nightmare for in Hades 2?
Nightmares are primarily used to upgrade weapon aspects in Hades 2 that aren’t Aspect of Melinoe. You always need the same amount for each weapon, and you can upgrade aspects from Level 1 to Level 5. Here’s how many Nightmares you need for each level:
- Weapon Aspect II: 1 Nightmare.
- Weapon Aspect III: 1 Nightmare.
- Weapon Aspect IV: 2 Nightmares.
- Weapon Aspect V: 3 Nightmares.
For example, if I wanted to upgrade my Aspect of Thanatos Moonstone Axe to Level 2, I’d need 1 Nightmare. Moreover, to upgrade a Weapon Aspect fully to Level 5, you’d need 7 Nightmares. Note that this is just for one aspect, so I’d need another 7 Nightmares for the Aspect of Charon Moonstone Axe.
