How to Purchase Services From Characters in Fortnite

Here's where to track down some helpful characters!

The Dummy’s Joyride quests in Fortnite are a great way to earn a bit extra XP and claim all your rewards before the end of the season. One quest requires you to interact with some NPCs around the map by purchasing services. Here’s how and where to go to complete it.

Where to Purchase Services From Characters in Fortnite

My initial thought when working toward this quest was that purchasing any weapon or item from them would count toward the “service.” However, after testing this method out, the items and weapons don’t count toward the quest at all. Instead, you’ll need to look for NPCs that sell actual services like a Patch Up (similar to the Mending Machines), Rift-To-Go, or Prop Disguise.

This narrows down your search for NPCs by a lot because there are only a few NPCs that actually offer these types of services. Here are the NPCs that you’ll want to visit:

  • Dummy: Southwest of Lavish Lair – Prop Disguise
  • Graveheart: Southwest of Classy Courts – Patch Up
  • Hope: Grand Glacier – Rift-To-Go
  • Apollo: Northeast of Mount Olympus – Rift-To-Go
  • Peely: South of Restored Reels – Patch Up & Prop Disguise
  • Jittershock: Northwest of Snooty Steppes – Rift-To-Go

How to Purchase a Service

Once you locate one of these characters, interact with them to see all their available options. A lot of characters will sell items along with services, but you’ll want to stick to the three types of services listed above.

Select the icon matching the service from the dialogue wheel to purchase it. They will all cost you Gold Bars. However, services are actually much cheaper than purchasing weapons. To purchase a Prop Disguise, it only cost me 50 Gold Bars. You can buy more than one per character (as long as they have enough uses in stock), which will help you get the quest done faster as well.

Where to Get Gold Bars

If you’re running low on Gold Bars, there are a few ways to get more of them before purchasing your services. The quickest ways are to eliminate players or search chests. You can find a few Gold Bars from downed players or in random chests that you loot. However, if you have enough time, Bunkers are where you’ll find the most Gold Bars to stock up on.

The bunkers open up about mid-game and will sound off an alarm, as well as a pop-up and indicator when you can enter them. Inside are usually plenty of weapon cases and Rare Chests, but you’ll also find a stack of Gold Bars. Breaking the stacks with your pickaxe will drop the Gold Bars for you to pick up.

You’ll need to get three services to complete the quest, so save up your Gold Bars and track down the proper characters. Their services might also help you get further in the match.
