How to Select Missions and Operations in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2

Here's how to select old story missions, start co-op operations, and join PvP in Space Marine 2.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is a co-op game as well as a story-driven shooter. An essential part of multiplayer story games is being able to select old missions and replay them with a friend. If that wasn’t the case, you’d have to play the game from beginning to end with the same group at your side. Not to speak of operations, which are only accessible outside of the campaign. Whichever mode you’re interested in, here’s how to select Missions and Operations in Space Marine 2.

Like difficulty selection and similar setting options Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, missions must be selected by one player for the entire team. That’s obvious once you think about it, the game can’t have you select two story missions at once, and the same goes for the one-off operations. Of course, this is only relevant if you’re going through the game in co-op multiplayer.

To select a campaign mission or an operation in Space Marine 2, approach the terminal in the Battle Barge. You’ll find the terminal in the landing pad where you usually go to start a mission, right in front of where the spaceship is parked. You’ll know it’s the right terminal if it looks like the one in the screenshot above.

From here on out, selecting a mission or an operation is quite easy. Select either option and then pick the specific level you want to play through. You’re free to select a story mission that you haven’t unlocked yet, but that’s not advisable, at least if you care about the story.

Selecting an operation will prompt you to select a class as well. This will decide which equipment will be available to you as well as your role in the team. If you’re approaching Operations as a solo player, you might be out of luck, as those seem to be dedicated to co-op teams.

Surprisingly, you can’t select PvP multiplayer mode right from the main menu. Instead, the procedure is the same as selecting a campaign mission or an operation. The PvP modes for Space Marine 2 are collectively referred to as Infinite War, at least in-game.

Infinite War features a few different multiplayer modes, including a good old quick match. And according to Space Marine 2’s “Battle Plan”, the development roadmap, more PvP modes and PvE levels will be added in the following months and years.
