There is a new Genshin Impact update and new puzzles to solve for the same rewards you always want. One of the puzzles you’ll need to solve as of update 4.8 involves shooting origami squirrels through paper garlands multiple times. Yes, and it’s as silly as it sounds. Here’s how to do it.
How to Complete Flying Squirrel Aerial Adventures in Genshin Impact
The Flying Squirrel Aerial Adventures activities in the Simulanka event region all follow a similar mechanic. When you approach one of the red origami squirrels with the symbol of a polygon on a string above their head, you can press the T key on the keyboard, L1, and Square with a PlayStation controller or left bumper and X with an Xbox controller. Doing so will give you give you control of the squirrel and summon several paper garlands. Pressing and holding the Attack button will let you aim the squirrel through the garlands.
Your goal is to get the squirrel to fly through all the garlands present in the challenge, and there are several variations.
- Platforming and aim challenge. In this variation of Flying Squirrel Aerial Adventures, you need to get the squirrel through a specific number of garlet sets, usually three or four. Each set is divided into two parts: an arc where you need to aim the squirrel in a curve through the garlands into a flower balloon and a line of garlands that requires you to traverse to a certain nearby vantage point to get the squirrel aimed properly.
- Timed aim challenge. In this variation of Flying Squirrel Aerial Adventures, you have a limited time to get your squirrel through a specific number of garlands, but rather than needing to traverse anywhere, you need to use the squirrel’s movement intelligently, using both arcs and straight lines to move through the garlands. And because the squirrel will return to you in a straight line after being sent out, you can use that movement to get through additional garlands.
- Napping yellow flower challenges. In this variation, there is no timer. Instead, you need to hit the napping yellow flowers with a squirrel to open them and cause a wind gust that moves one or more of the garlands into place. Once so moved, you can simply fire the squirrel through the rings at your leisure.
The biggest challenge I found was the timed aim challenges, as the time allotted doesn’t allow too many mistakes. You need to use every move the squirrels can do to have any sort of buffer. The platforming challenges are very straightforward, especially because you can use the jump-enhancing energy fields to get where you need to go quickly. Even missing a jump or two isn’t the end of the world, as the amount of time you have is much more generous than the aim challenge.
I highly recommend doing all the Flying Squirrel Aerial Adventures activities you can find because they all award at least an Exquisite Chest, and many awards the more valuable Precious Chest. That’s 5 or 10 Primogems, respectively. Three of them are even required to complete a puzzle that gives a Luxurious Chest as a reward.
In short, completing all eight of the Flying Squirrel Aerial Adventures challenges awards almost 100 Primogems, and that’s not accounting for all the other activities and rewards that are a part of the patch-long Summertide Scales and Tales event.
