Rusty’s Retirement is an adorable idle farming game that sits at the bottom of your PC screen. To many players, this game doubles as a virtual pet or an interactive background screen. However, the endless green fields of the game’s main map can get stale after a few hours. Fortunately, Rusty’s Retirement has plenty of alternative farm types to unlock. Here is how.
Unlocking Alternate Farms in Rusty’s Retirement
To unlock new maps and farm layouts in Rusty’s Retirement, you must “complete” a farm. What this means in practice is clearing all the rubble on both sides of the map. To do so, click on the appropriate bulldozer icon. The increased space will lead to faster production times, generating the money necessary to buy the farm’s next extension.
If you want to unlock a new farm fast, make sure you’re not using focus mode. This alternate game mode halves production times, making every development much slower. While focus mode is useful if you find the game too distracting, I suggest keeping it off and simply ignoring the game if you can. Unlocking new farms is already slow enough as it is.
