How to Use the Debug Cheat in Sims 4 (& Unlock All Items)

Unlock more opportunities by using the debug cheat!

Some of the best builds in Sims 4 include a few simple cheats. Even if it may seem unnecessary, especially with all the items and decor choices we already have, it can provide some special items that complete a build. Here’s how to use the Debug cheat and unlock all items for your game.

How to Unlock Debug Cheat Items in Sims 4

The debug cheat adds some items to your build options that aren’t usually there. These objects can be various items that you find while in live mode or props and items that are in the environment but aren’t usually interactable. To unlock these options, you’ll need to enter the right cheat codes.

How to Enable Cheats

The first step to using the debug cheat is to enable cheats in general. Open your cheat menu by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C on PC, or press all bumpers and triggers simultaneously on your console.

Once you press the right combination of buttons, the cheat menu will open on the top left corner of your screen. This is a simple white bar. You can type in this bar to enter cheat codes. However, they will only work once you enable cheats for your game. You must do this every time you exit and restart your game. Click on the cheats bar and type in testingcheats true. It will follow your input with a message that says, “Cheats are enabled.” Now you can enter your other cheats.

All Debug Cheat Codes

You can enter a couple of codes to reveal debug items in your build menu. These will both work to add different types of items to your menu. They are case-sensitive, so ensure you type them exactly as shown below:

CheatDescription
bb.showLiveEditObjectsAdds career items and achievement items usually only collected through live mode
bb.showHiddenObjectsAdds tons of random collectibles, trees, clutter, and other decor objects

To find your unlocked items after entering the code, press the All Objects button on the bottom left side, which is symbolized as a chair icon. In this section, type in the search bar: “debug,” then click on the first search result.

This will bring you directly to all the items that are now unlocked, all in one spot. You can scroll down to keep browsing through them and place them in your plot as you like.

Best Debug Items

Some of the best debug items I like to use in my builds are cars, walls and fences, and more plants. There are lots of new choices for each of these that make building so much easier. Ensure you use the Move Objects cheat to place them precisely in your world.

Even though there aren’t cars in the game, the debug items give you a few different options of fake car props to place in your plots, so you can at least suggest that your sim has a vehicle. The walls and plants are just more options that aren’t super necessary but can make for more realistic builds, specifically for your landscaping. I like to use this low stone wall in a lot of my builds.

If you’ve ever wondered how some sims builders have made their builds look so good, it might have been because of these hidden debug objects. Now, you can use them yourself and get super creative. There are plenty of objects to explore.
