Injustice (Mobile) Superman Godfall Challenge Mode

Have yourself an over-powered Christmas in Injustice, with Godfall Superman
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Merry Christmas, Injustice fans. The good folks at NetherRealm Studios have been doling out gifts and surprises every day this month to their players. When you open the virtual advent calendar today, prepare to gasp.

Players have seen a string of new Challenge Mode characters some might consider a bit OP (Over-powered), but mostly these have been newer or more obscure characters. This time, they roll out a sterioded version of someone who may not have really needed performance enhancement. But, who’s complaining?

Actually, Godfall Superman may have your PvP opponents complaining, but I’m betting they’ll be using one themselves. Why?

This new Kandorian makeover version sports a hellacious passive ability – Power of Kandor. Blocking basic attacks reflects that damage on the attacker. That means it hurts, unless you’re quick or can unload a Special Move.

How about those base health stats? And a nasty Frozen Delivery special attack as well.

Won’t Stay Bottled Up

Opening this gift means tearing through the five layers of wrapping paper in the form of a series of five challenges. Complete them all and you can attempt a harder Expert version, and maybe go for Nightmare level.

Each set of battles you win, you get a part of Godfall Supe’s stylish Kryptonian swag (Chest Armor, Boots, Belt, Cape and Gloves). Once you have won all five challenges, a Gold Level Superman Godfall is added to your collection.

But, you don’t have to complete all of the battles to win a prize:

  • 24 Fights Won – Free Bronze Booster Pack (worth 8,000 credits)
  • 36 Fights Won – +15,000 Power Credits
  • 48 Fights Won – Free Silver Booster Pack (worth 35,000 credits)

Doesn’t Take a Brainiac

I can’t tell you how to best take down the opposition and there’s countless combinations, considering how many characters there are to choose from, but here’s my suggestions:

  • Challenge 1: Bronze Characters Only – Nightwing up front to deflect, Deathstroke for special attacks. Lex Luthor gives 15% boost.
  • Challenge 2:  Lex Luthor Must Be On Your Team – You could field an entire team of Luthors, but one’s enough. He’s a good opener since his Lance can keep opponents from stacking while your guys charge up.
  • Challenge 3: Bronze or Silver Characters Only – Nightwing or Luthor for power drain, Bane’s 2nd attack is devastating. Green Lantern or Black Adam is good in the 2nd slot. I don’t get people who lead with Adam.
  • Challenge 4: Batman Must Be On Your Team – Finally a “(Blank) Must Be On Your Team” I’m looking forward to. There’s really no bad choice when it comes to using the Caper Crusader.
  • Challenge 5: Doomsday Must Be On Your Team – Can I just say Hells Yeah?! Doomsday is my go-to guy. Hero Slayer and Hero Killer are both great passives from the Prime and Regime versions respectively.

Clothes Make the Superman

In the Superman: Godfall story by Joe Kelly and Michael Turner, an amnesia suffering Superman arrives in the Kryptonian city of Kandor. The city had been shrunk by Brainiac and kept something like terrarium aboard his ship.

He’s discovered by a woman named Lyla who nurses him back to health but doesn’t tell Superman who he really is, convincing him that he’s a lowly government worker and they are married.

At some point, Lyla steals his powers and breaks free from the shrunken city, desiring to fly to Metropolis and become like a God on Earth. Ironically, she discovers that humans didn’t serve or worship Superman, but loved and respected him for his deeds and care for them.

The theme seems a good fit compared to the Gods Among Us storyline and indeed the Godfall costume is a bad-ass new look for a bad-ass OP’ed version of the Last Son of Krypton.
