With the relaunch of Gigantic, titled Gigantic: Rampage Edition, both veterans and newcomers to the game are surging in. This third-person MOBA is now available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. With all these available platforms, is Gigantic: Rampage Edition crossplay and co-op?
Does Gigantic: Rampage Edition Have Crossplay and Co-op?
Gigantic: Rampage Edition supports cross-platform play and, being a MOBA, is intrinsically a co-op and PVP game as well. Two teams of up to 5 players will join forces in an innovative third-person MOBA experience. The gameplay not only involves defeating enemy heroes but also controlling objectives with your team and taking down the enemy Guardian raid boss. The Guardian is essentially the Ancient in Dota 2 or a Nexus in League of Legends that players have to destroy to win.
Essentially, the relaunch of Gigantic and its success will largely revolve around the player base. Abstraction Games’ decision to interconnect all platforms will be crucial for the game’s revival and shelf life. The main element I like about the launch is that even players on older consoles can join. The original was available only on PC and Xbox One, so I’m glad to see the accessibility expansion.
The key difference is the drastically better performance on new-gen consoles. Furthermore, the game is now a buy-to-play release instead of a free-to-play one like the original. It remains to be seen how this will affect the player base, though I would say the price range isn’t steep at all. If you liked Gigantic back in 2017, Rampage Edition is everything we wanted and a little bit more.
So, to reiterate, Gigantic: Rampage Edition is both a crossplay game and a cooperative one due to the MOBA aspect. Stay tuned to our Gigantic: Rampage Edition hub for more articles on the game
