Is Path of Exile crossplay has been a question on the minds of many players for some time now. The popular free-to-play RPG is available on PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PS4, and while the playerbase is considerable, having a larger pool of players to party up with only makes things better. So can you hack and slash with fans on other platforms?
Does Path of Exile Have Crossplay?
The short answer to whether Path of Exile has crossplay or not is, no: Path of Exile doesn’t have crossplay support between PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.
Technically, though, there is a wrinkle to keep in mind. Those playing on PC and Mac can join each other’s parties or invite their friends to play multiplayer. Despite differences in operating systems and builds, Mac is a personal computer on a very basic level, just like anything from Alienware, Corsair, or MSI, so it makes sense the two would be crossplay compatible.
Indeed, PlayStation and Xbox players will have to stick with comrades from their respective platforms. Crossplay isn’t supported between PlayStation and Xbox, or from either console to PC or Mac.
Role-playing games of this ilk often take different approaches to crossplay, as well. For example, both Pillars of Eternity and Divinity Original Sin 2 take similar stances as Path of Exile, separating PC and Mac players from those on console when it comes to the functionality. Others, like Diablo 4, will implement it.
None of this is to mention that the console and PC versions of Path of Exile are different, making crossplay implementation difficult at best.
