If you clicked on this because the headline’s really weird when you have no context, I understand. We’re discussing The Answer, an epilogue chapter that was initially added with Persona 3 FES on the PS2. Let’s discuss whether The Answer in Persona 3 Reload, the newest version of P3.
Does Persona 3 Reload Have The Answer? That’s the Real Question
Back in the day, the original Persona 3 went through a positively Capcom-esque number of re-releases. The original version of the game was released for the PlayStation 2 in North America in 2007. It was subsequently followed by the enhanced Persona 3 FES, an enhanced re-release that included The Answer.
The former added some new content to the existing version of the main game, while The Answer is a lengthy new epilogue to P3 that adds roughly 30 hours of gameplay. If you happened to buy one of the later American digital releases of Persona 3, such as the 2012 PlayStation Network version, you probably got FES.
Just to be slightly confusing, Atlus later released Persona 3 Portable for the PSP in 2010, which only contains The Journey. It also has a few unique features, such as the ability to play through the game as the female protagonist Kotone.
Persona 3 Reload, in a slightly controversial decision by Atlus, is strictly a remake of the original 2007 Persona 3. At time of writing, it only contains The Journey, and doesn’t feature Portable‘s additional options or content. That has the potential to change, however. On January 30, a leaker named “Midori” tweeted that The Answer will arrive at an unspecified point in the future as DLC for P3R, with no other details. Midori is being taken relatively seriously on this, as the account appears to have a high hit rate compared to other anonymous leakers online.
This does mean that P3 Reload has re-committed the cardinal seventh-generation sin of reserving a game’s true ending for its DLC. But of course, we don’t know if The Answer is coming at all, or if it’ll cost anything when it does. All we know for the time being, is that The Answer isn’t in Persona 3 Reload, and neither is most of the content from FES or Portable. Check out more of our P3R guides on the game here on GameSkinny.
