Released on January 27, 2023, the Dead Space Remake revitalizes a survival-horror classic for modern platforms. Aside from the obvious graphical overhaul, there are new options and accessibility features that make this version of Isaac Clark’s harrowing experience on the USG Ishimura a definitive experience. But some fans may be wondering: is the Dead Space Remake coming to PS4?
The short answer to “Is the Dead Space Remake coming to PS4?” is no, it is not available on Sony’s “last-gen” system, nor does it appear to be coming to the platform in the future. Further. it is not available on Microsoft’s Xbox One, though Series X/S owners, as well as those on PC, can play the Dead Space Remake.
The confusion of whether the Dead Space Remake would be coming to PS4 or not seems to stem from an October trailer for the game released by Sony Latin America, which included the PlayStation 4 branding. That trailer was later deemed to be inaccurate, according to Eurogamer.
Though the PlayStation 5 install base is currently a fraction of the PS4’s, and plenty of other games, such as Dying Light 2 and The Callisto Protocol, have released on the PlayStation 4 alongside the PlayStation 5 this early in the console’s life cycle, the Dead Space Remake won’t likely follow suit. As has been seen with other releases, “last-gen” versions typically get nixed ahead of release, not added afterward.
Unfortunately, the 2008 Dead Space isn’t available through PlayStation Plus either, so PlayStation fans will have to either pick up a PS5 to play 2023’s remake or scrounge up a PS3 to play the original. For more on the Dead Space Remake, head over here.
