Games are almost always better with some friends, especially when they have some challenging difficulties like Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. Taking down the seemingly endless enemies would be much easier with some backup, so is Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun multiplayer?
Can You Play Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun Multiplayer?
Unfortunately, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is not a multiplayer game. It doesn’t support additional players, not even as a split-screen co-op. The game was released in 2023, so you would think that multiplayer would be a must, but the developers are sticking to a solo, hack ‘n’ slash style that one player must face alone.
Even though plenty of retro FPSs feature multiplayer compatibility, it does have more of an arcade feel being solo. An online multiplayer mode may be too much, but I at least hoped for a split-screen since the difficulties are incredibly challenging.
There have been Warhammer 40,000 multiplayer experiences before, like Warhammer 40,000: Rouge Trader or even Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, which had a full online mode pitting us against each other in PVP modes. We had the exact expectations for multiplayer for Boltgun despite being a retro-styled experience.
Is Multiplayer Coming to Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun?
There are no reports of any new features coming to the game, but you never know what could happen. The game recently went up on Xbox Game Pass, which could bring more attention to the game and lead the developers to make a change. However, as of right now, it seems unlikely.
The game is also available on PC, meaning mods are a thing. If the right person gets their hands on the game, there very well could be a mod that allows multiplayer. It’s been done with other games in the past. If you’re really hoping for a chance at multiplayer, mods could be your best bet!
