Jurassic World Evolution 2 is out now on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. And in a world where so many games have multiplayer modes, some players are wondering if this too has multiplayer, co-op, or PvP. It can’t just be a single-player experience, can it? Well …
Jurassic World Evolution 2 Multiplayer Answered
There isn’t much precedent for multiplayer modes in management simulators. Ignoring games that are more closely in line with real-time or turn-based strategy mechanics, only a handful of management sims have implemented multiplayer, co-op or PvP, without mods, including Tropico 5, Tropico 6, Open TTD, Factorio, and Stardew Valley.
On top of that, Frontier Developments hasn’t included multiplayer modes in previous management titles such as Planet Zoo and the first Jurassic World Evolution. Those games are strictly single-player experiences with campaign and challenge modes dedicated to that type of play.
With that in mind, the answer to “Does Jurassic World Evolution 2 have multiplayer” is no: Jurassic World Evolution 2 does not have any multiplayer modes. There is no co-op mode for sharing resources or visiting other players’ parks, and there is no PvP mode where dinosaurs can square off against each other (though that might be pretty cool).
Jurassic World Evolution 2, mind, shouldn’t be confused for LEGO: Jurassic World, which does offer 2-player multiplayer. The LEGO adventure game does come back in search queries for JWE 2 from time to time, so don’t mix them up if you go looking!
All that said, it seems unlikely that Frontier Developments will change course and patch multiplayer modes into Jurassic World Evolution 2. Anything’s possible, and future DLC and updates could add the functionality to JWE 2, but as it stands at launch, it’s a single-player only experience on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X|S.
