Last Epoch 1.0 is here. The game features five base classes, all with unique attributes. However, some classes just happen to be better than others, so I’ve decided to rank the best here so you can focus on the ones perfect for your playstyle — or those that are just outright OP.
What are the Best Classes in Last Epoch?
Last Epoch has five classes — Mage, Primalist, Acolyte, Rogue, and Sentinel. While everyone might have some preferences when it comes to playstyle, some classes outshine others with an ideal balance of power and mechanics. Here’s a complete tier list of all base classes in the game.
S-Tier Last Epoch Classes
Acolyte
My personal favorite, the Acolyte is a rebellious scion who sought out the power of forbidden magic, the Dark Arts. She summons minions, like Skeletons, to fight alongside her, and she uses physical and necrotic magic to take down hordes of enemies. You get her lifesteal ability, Rip Blood, early on, so you’re always able to recover quickly in combat. She offers a flexible playstyle where you can focus on skills relying on minions or jump in with melee combat. And, of course, her abilities are flashy and fun. Her mastery specializations are Lich, Necromancer, and Warlock.
Sentinel
The Sentinel is an honorable and fearsome combatant, who takes on the Knight class in Last Epoch. The Sentinel is powerful from the very start, giving you the strength you need to power through leveling solo or taking on the front lines online with your friends. The Hammer Throw move brings a ranged attack as you dash into a horde, and his Warpath move lets you spin, slashing all enemies in a circumference at once. Overall, he’s a well-rounded class who offers a good experience, whether you’re an ARPG novice or a veteran. His mastery specializations are Void Knight, Paladin, and Forge Guard.
A-Tier Last Epoch Classes
Mage
The Mage is an Elder who wields the power of arcane magic to pave the way to a new future. He’s Last Epoch’s sorcerer class and controls elements such as Fire, Ice, and Lightning. His spells pack a punch from the get-go. His spells are powerful and have great range, but he’s more vulnerable to damage as a result. However, he’s got a plethora of defensive abilities, like wards and more, to stave off attacks. The Mage is a powerful and adaptable class because you can choose to focus on sword combat, or spells as a ranged caster. His mastery specializations are Sorcerer, Spellblade, and Runemaster.
Primalist
The Primalist is a warrior from the north who seeks communion with the power of Eterra and nature. If you’re a fan of hunting alongside a companion pet, this is the class for you. You get to summon a wolf immediately and unlock passive healing abilities, ranged spells, and melee attacks. His brawler, and caster traits offer interesting combat, encouraging you to find a balance as you move around hordes of enemies. His mastery specializations are Druid, Beastmaster, and Shaman.
B-Tier Last Epoch Classes
Rogue
The Rogue is an artisan of shadows, who’s highly agile and strikes down her foes with speed. She’s a deadly assassin who utilizes stealth melee attacks or a bow for some ranged attacks from the shadows. She deals with a variety of damage like Physical, Poison, and Fire. However, her dodge moves, like Shift, are essential to surviving combat. So, while she can cut through hordes of enemies, it can be a struggle to fend off foes alone. Her mastery specializations are Bladedancer, Marskman, and Falconer.
