Lords of the Fallen: How to Beat Abiding Defender Lirenne and Kyra

These twin knights need to be taken out in Lords of the Fallen. Here's how to beat Lirenne and Kyra.

The Lords of the Fallen Abiding Defender boss encounter is quite rough. In most instances, you’re up against just a single Sinner opponent. This time, you’ll have to battle two heavily-armored guardians. Our guide discusses how to beat Abiding Defender Lirenne and Kyra in the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers zone.

How to Beat Abiding Defender Lirenne and Kyra in Lords of the Fallen

To beat Abiding Defender Lirenne and Kyra, you have to take note of the attack patterns of your two opponents. Lirenne primarily focuses on melee, whereas Kyra prefers to cast spells. Both of them also use holy abilities. Lastly, when one of them dies, the remaining Abiding Defender will attempt to revive them.

Where to Find Abiding Defender Lirenne and Kyra

You’ll start the Lords of the Fallen Abiding Defender Lirenne and Kyra boss encounter upon reaching the back courtyard of the Leprosarium, also known as the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers. There, you’ll see a raised area that has a chest in the middle, and it happens to be surrounded by several armor displays. To no one’s surprise, a couple of these come to life.

Abiding Defender Lirenne and Kyra Abilities

These are the abilities that you need to take note of when battling Abiding Defender Lirenne and Kyra in Lords of the Fallen:

  • Lirenne: This opponent is melee-focused, and she’ll often do multi-string attacks and a sword slam. She also casts a crescent projectile that deals holy damage.
  • Kyra: This foe relies more on spells. She has a spectral sword that moves along the ground. Likewise, she can summon multiple spectral swords that criss-cross the area and hit at least twice.

I know what you’re thinking: maybe it’s better to attack Kyra first since she just uses spells anyway? Well, no, I feel that’s a terrible idea. In my experience, I attempted to do that a couple of times and I failed miserably. That’s because Kyra can still attack in melee, albeit without the same frills as Lirenne’s own moves.

Putting the pressure on Kyra leaves you open to Lirenne’s combos, which are more devastating. As such, I suggest splitting the two apart by goading Lirenne into moving near you, while Kyra could stand back and just cast spells. Since Kyra’s spells have slow casting animations, it’s possible to avoid them while blocking or dodging Lirenne’s melee swings.

Your deflections will cause Lirenne to stagger, allowing for a quick grievous strike to take out a chunk of her health considerably. From there, try to smack Kyra when you see an opening (at least until she has 50% HP remaining). Once you take out Lirenne, Kyra will attempt to revive her. That’s when you should burst down her remaining HP before she can resurrect her comrade.
