Continuing onward towards Dwarrowdelf comes with some letdowns, as well as extra work, due to the damage throughout the staircase up. In this guide, we’ll go over how to rebuild the Eastern Stairs and proceed to Dwarrowdelf in Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
How to Fix the Eastern Stairs in Return to Moria
Find the Library of Kibil-nala
Aric instructs you to find the Library of Kibil-nala, also known as Pilgrim Library, which contains the knowledge needed to rebuild the Eastern Stairs. Game wise, it holds the recipe for the Shanor Hammer. Only this hammer is strong enough to repair the damage.
To find the library, fast travel to the Great Drain Pumps of the Lower Deeps location. From there, head east towards the first room with spiders you encounter in the region. There’s a spider tower on a platform as well as a history marker in this room. Along the right wall connecting to the platform is dirt. Mine through to find the library. Interacting with it unlocks the recipe for the hammer.
Build the Shanor Hammer
Bring to the Great Belegost Forge:
- Shanor Ingot x3
- Black Diamond x1
- Ubasam Wood x4
The hammer can only be constructed at this forge, which is on the way towards the staircase. After you’ve crafted it, you’re ready to repair the Eastern Stairs.
Reconstruct the Eastern Stairs
- Ihraz Granite x100
- Black Diamond x20
When you have the resources, head to the broken staircase and repair it. Once fixed, you’ll get a new task to go to the Bridge of Khazad-dum. Along the way you’ll find sections of the stairs missing, meaning you need to build Quick Platforms, Stone, or Wood Floors in order to reach the other side. Some of the gaps are jumpable, but building a platform is the safe bet if you’re unsure of the distance.
