This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Marvel’s Avengers falls into the games as a service category, meaning its developer wants you to keep checking in often to enjoy the game’s latest updates as they roll out. Keeping in line with the live service model, Marvel’s Avengers features a Credits system that you can use to purchase cosmetics, emotes, and other features for your heroes.

But how do you get Credits and what can you get with them? In this guide, we’ll walk you through the game’s Credit system so you’ll be well prepared when using them to buy in-game items.

What Can You Get with Credits in Marvel’s Avengers?

There are lots of things you can buy with Credits. Here are the four categories of items that can be purchased:

  • Outfits
  • Takedowns
  • Emotes
  • Nameplates

Each category has multiple items that can be purchased with Credits, and Crystal Dynamics will continue to add more to keep you playing. The items all vary in price. Nameplates are the least expensive, while Outfits and Takedowns will cost you more.

For example:

  • Legendary Outfits tend to hover around 1,400 Credits
  • Takedowns are around 1,200 Credits
  • Emotes are between 700-1,000 Credits
  • Nameplates are around 100 Credits

You can buy these items at the Marketplace from the main menu. Keep checking in to see what’s available for each character as the game changes over time.

How to Earn Credits

There are two ways to earn Credits in Marvel’s Avengers.

Complete Challenges for Credits

The first method is free and involves completing challenges to level up your Challenge Card. Each hero has their own Challenge Card, so make sure you check them all out by going into the menu and tabbing over to the Challenge Card sub-menu.

Here, you’ll find what is effectively a Battle Pass, with each tier rewarding you in some way. Some tiers give you skins and nameplates, while other tiers will reward you with Credits.

There are 40 tiers within a Battle Pass for each character and a possible 1,300 Credits that can be earned from each.

The way you level up your Challenge Card is by completing Daily and Weekly Challenges. These can be found within the Challenge Card menu, towards the bottom.

Here, you can see how much each Challenge is worth, ranging from a couple of points for the Daily Challenges to upwards of 11 points for the Weekly challenges. Make sure you check in each day to get your points to level up your Challenge Card to earn Credits!

Buy Credits with Real Money

Of course, you can buy Credits with real money, and their prices are as follows:

  • 500 Credits: $4.99
  • 2,000 Credits: $19.99
  • 5,000 Credits: $49.99
  • 10,000 Credits: $99.99

To buy Credits, head to the menu by pressing the Touchpad on PS4 or the Back button on Xbox One.

Here, you’ll see a little plus icon on the right side of the screen that you can navigate to. This is also available from the main menu. Press “X” on PS4 or “A” on Xbox One here to go to the Credit Packages menu, where you can select a package to buy.

In its current form, the menu has fairly expensive packs of Credits, so your best bet is to earn them by playing.

You do get extra Credits for buying the more expensive packages, but even with 10,000 Credits, you’ll only be able to get a handful of skins.

It’s unclear if the Credits system will evolve over time, but as with many games as a service, the in-game economy could see some changes in the future.

For now, that’s everything you’ll need to know about how to earn Credits in Marvel’s Avengers. Stay tuned for more guides in the near future, such as our quick walkthrough for finding Sidney Levine.
