Marvel’s Midnight Suns: How to Get Arcane Keys

Arcane Keys are required to open the many treasure chests in Midnight Suns, here's how to get them.

You figure out pretty early on that you need Arcane Keys in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, since so many locked treasure chests in your first few hours in the Abbey require the keys to unlock.

Arcane Keys can seem few and far between for a long while, but as things start opening up and the Hunter gains more powers, you’ll be able to start hunting them down and opening the chests for loot drops.

How to Get Arcane Keys in Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Side Quests and Hero Quests

One of the most reliable ways to get Arcane Keys early on is to complete side quests as they’ll often net you a key. Agatha’s quests specifically usually end up with a key or two to use on chests. If you’re looking to get four keys quickly, find all four Elemental Rods and place them in their pedestals at Agatha’s Altar.

Some of the keys that you can find from completing Agatha’s quests are located along the winding paths of the Abbey’s grounds that you need to walk down, so make sure to keep an eye out.

The heroes that you’ve recruited to the Abbey will often request your help for smaller things as well that don’t require any actual adventuring or gameplay. Speak to everyone who needs help and you’re bound to be offered an Arcane Key among the rewards for helping out. When asked to choose between two outcomes, make sure to pick the one that nets you the most keys.

Sparring

You should be sparring with your teammates every day to further train and bond with Midnight Suns’ cast of characters, but in addition to the XP rewards you gain from doing it, you’ll sometimes be given an Arcane Key for training.

It doesn’t happen every day, but they come up frequently enough that it can turn into a semi-regular source of keys for you to use.

Exploring the Abbey with the ‘Reveal’ Word of Power

There are Arcane Keys scattered across the Abbey grounds, however, the large majority of them are hidden behind stone tablets and other magical barriers. To access them, you’ll need the “Reveal” Word of Power that’s acquired from the second Moon Seal.

Once you’ve got it, you’ll be able to reveal secrets hidden behind the symbols that look like a capital “Y” with a half-circle drawn on its upper half. You’ll be able to find plenty of Arcane Keys with the Word of Power, so make sure to keep an eye out for the symbol as you adventure around the Abbey.

Night Offerings

Perhaps the most consistent way to get Arcane Keys is by offering up artifacts at the Offering Bowl south of Agatha’s Altar. Each night, you can offer up one of the artifacts you’ve collected from completing missions.

Place the artifact in the bowl and then use a Word of Power. The artifact will disappear and you’ll automatically be given an Arcane Key. Be warned: this method destroys the artifact so make sure to research them with Tony in the Forge before offering them up.

With all this in mind, you should be able to rack up Arcane Keys and get to open those locked chests you see all around the Abbey. For more tips, check out our other Marvel’s Midnight Suns guides here on GameSkinny.
