Marvel’s Midnight Suns: What are Tarot Cards?

Tarot cards are an interesting addition in Marvel's Midnight Suns, but what are they used for?

There are a lot of things to find hidden across the Abbey grounds in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. As you start to explore the large campus in search of crafting supplies and new Havens, you’ll likely end up finding a tarot card or two lying about. While the game spends plenty of time with tutorials and in-depth explanations on many of its systems, Midnight Suns doesn’t go out of its way to explain the purpose of the 22 cards scattered across the Abbey.

Tarot Cards Explained

It seems like part of the reason for the overall lack of tutorial is due to the fact that, despite how heavily Midnight Suns uses cards in many of its other mechanics, there’s really nothing to the tarot cards other than being a collectible.

The art on each card is unique, depicting a different Marvel character that embodies the archetype of the card found (for example, Justice is She-Hulk, Fool is Deadpool, Moon is Moon Knight,) but other than that, nothing is gained for picking up individual cards.

If you manage to find all 22 tarot cards, however, you’ll be rewarded with two things: the Salem Suit for the Hunter and Salem Savior, a rare passive ability. When activated, the passive gives you a 50% chance of drawing an additional card when taking out an enemy in combat. It’s pretty useful since having more cards in your hand gives you far more options in combat, but the suit is purely cosmetic.

As mentioned above, it’s a little odd that a game like Midnight Suns would include tarot cards but not lean into the card aspects of tarot reading is a little baffling, but there are plenty of other mechanics in the game to focus on. This just means that finding all 22 cards shouldn’t necessarily be a priority unless the completionist in you needs to get it done as soon as you get all four words of power and gain access to the entirety of the Abbey.

That’s all you need to know about what tarot cards are used for in Midnight Suns. Take a look at our other Marvel’s Midnight Suns guides here on GameSkinny.
