Metroid Dread Robot Chozo Boss Fight Guide

Metroid Dread's Robot Chozo boss fight is tough, but you'll need to master it more than once, so here's how.

Metroid Dread‘s Robot Chozo boss fight is one of the toughest battles up to that point in the game, but you should pay close attention to Chozo’s attacks. The first fight in Ferenia is absolutely not the last such fight in Metroid Dread.

Fortunately, the first boss fight is the most difficult given your limited arsenal and the space restrictions the arena forces on you. Here’s how to beat Robot Chozo the first time and prepare for future encounters.

Robot Chozo Boss Fight Strategy

Unlike other boss fights in Metroid Dread, there’s no shortcut for dealing with this one. You’re forced to take this path to Ferenia, and there’s no way out of fighting Chozo and no tool that makes it easier just yet.

Robot Chozo only has a few moves to deal with. One is a beam attack similar to Samus’ charge beam, another is a standard beam attack, but the one you really need to be careful of is the charged melee strike.

The charged melee strike is easy to spot since the Robot Chozo’s shield glows red before it attacks.

Samus jumping over an attack from Robot Chozo.

The easiest way to deal with all these threats is jumping and using Flash Shift to quickly evade, then turning around and firing as many missiles as possible at the robot.

Robot Chozo is only vulnerable to missiles (or charge beam strikes) after it attacks or from behind, so don’t waste your ammo if it’s striking head on.

Some players report Robot Chozo pulls off a melee attack you can counter. I never stayed close enough to see if that was true, but if you catch sight of the telltale glint, it’s worth sticking around to land a counter and make the fight shorter.

This isn’t the last you’ll see of Robot Chozo. There’s one more Robot Chozo fight when you head back to Ghavoran, plus a fight against two in Ferenia’s upper hall.
