For those who are extra crafty, you’ll need a lot of Redstone if you want to build hidden entrances or even mining machines. If you’re having a hard time finding it don’t worry, we’ll show you the best level to mine Redstone in Minecraft.
Minecraft: Best Level to Mine Redstone
Before you start to mine, there are a few things you’ll need first. Redstone can only be mined with an Iron Pickaxe or better so make sure you have some on you. I also recommend bringing plenty of torches with you, since it’s found most commonly pretty deep. It’s dark down there. And, of course, you’ll want a sword and some food in case you run into any dangerous mobs.
Now that we’re all set, we can start mining. Redstone can be found on any Y level between 16 and -64. However, the best level to mine Redstone is around the -53 range.
I like to mine around this level because it usually has a lot of Redstone and Diamonds. However, there is the danger of having a lava pit below you when you mine. I recommend that you mine the blocks around the Redstone Ore, so neither the stone nor you fall into a hidden lava pit. There’s nothing worse than spending a lot of time gathering resources and then losing it all in a fiery death.
When you mine the blocks, you’ll get anywhere from four to five redstone dust per block. I usually find the ore in groups of five or more, your experience will likely be the same, so you’ll get a decent amount of dust for your troubles.
That’s the best level to mine Redstone in Minecraft. If you’re looking for more tips and guides, check out our dedicated MC guide hub.
