Mortal Kombat 1 has a decent-size roster of fighters to choose from, but not everyone is immediately available. You’ll be quick to notice that one fighter slot is greyed out across all modes and locked from access. If you’re trying to play the lover of chaos yourself, here’s how to unlock Havik in Mortal Kombat 1.
How to Unlock Havik in Mortal Kombat 1
Havik’s character slot will finally be accessible once you’ve completed the campaign mode. Beating the final battle in MK1 will unlock a handful of rewards, and most notably, that includes the anarchist spreader of chaos. You’ll then be able to practice with him, learn his fatalities, and use him across all single-player and multiplayer modes.

If you were hoping for something like Mortal Kombat 11 and Frost being unlocked early on in the story, that regrettably isn’t the case here. This is more in line with the previous entries, which require 100% campaign completion for a final fighter to be selectable.
Who is Havik in MK1?
Within the revised timeline of Mortal Kombat 1, Havik is a citizen of Seido, a.k.a. Orderrealm. Keeping true to its name, this strict realm centers around the idea of complete control. Everyone within it is relegated to specific castes. As a member of the lowest caste with no rights, he seeks to bring anarchy to free those who suffer.
This is in contrast to previous interpretations of the character. Timelines prior to MK1 had Havik hailing from the Chaosrealm. His desires for spreading chaos are a little less noble and more cultural, as he and all other inhabitants of the realm despise control and wish for constant turmoil.
That covers how to unlock Havik in Mortal Kombat 1. Whether there are other mechanics you’re curious about or in need of some general tips, our growing kollection of MK1 guides can help.
