Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Zombies has a unique story with plenty of missions to keep you busy. One challenge, called Freezer Burn, requires you to slow 10 Hellhounds with Cryo Freeze Ammo. However, the challenge is especially tough. Here’s how to complete it.
How to Slow Hellhounds with Cryo Freeze Ammo in MWZ
MWZ has some simple challenges and some not-so-simple challenges. Freezer Burn sounds easy enough on the surface, but Hellhounds are so easy to eliminate that activating the Slow debuff from Cryo Freeze is tougher than I expected it to be. To be clear: Hellhound kills don’t count toward the 10 you need to complete Freezer Burn. You must slow them, not kill them. Here’s how to do it.
- Equip a single-shot weapon with low damage output.
- I recommend a handgun like the P890 or the Renetti.
- Apply the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod to the handgun.
- The easiest way to do this is to craft the Schematic in your loadout. Otherwise, you’ll have to rely on finding it in Uzbekistan.
- Enter the Tier 2 zone.
- Drive around Tier 2 and seek out Hellhounds, shooting them with your Cryo Freeze handgun.
Best Places to Find Hellhounds in MWZ
While you can run into the creatures anywhere in Uzbekistan’s open world, the best place to find Hellhounds is near POIs like Strongholds or during various contracts. In my experience, there are at least a half a dozen or more Hellhounds in some of these areas. I often run into plenty of them during Escort ACV Contracts, and colleagues often find them in Strongholds. Alternatively, seek out Bounty contracts or Raid Weapon Stash contracts.
If you’re lucky, you might complete Freezer Burn in one match. However, the odds are that you’ll end up like me and need a few matches to get it done. To help speed things along, I recommend you travel with a friend so that you can lean out the window as a passenger with your handgun equipped, shooting at Hellhounds as you drive through Tier 2.
That’s how to slow Hellhounds with the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. Freezer Burn isn’t the only mission that asks you to use specific mods when getting kills.
