Nevertheless, you’ll soon notice that your backpack will fill up rapidly, potentially impeding your progress. Here’s a Once Human backpack expansion guide that discusses how to upgrade your backpack so you can carry more!

How to Upgrade the Once Human Backpack Expansion

First, to get the Once Human backpack expansion, you must unlock the Gravel and Log On-the-Go Memetic Specialization, which becomes available at level 15. Unfortunately, you’ll need a bit of RNG luck, as the Memetic Specializations you unlock are random. However, you can reset them to find the backpack expansion.

After unlocking the Backpack Expansion Memetic Specialization, your next destination is the Intermediate Supplies Workbench. Here, you’ll craft the Gravel and Log On-the-Go backpack expansion, which will reduce the weight of logs, gravel, and ore by 40% – 80%. But what does that percentage range mean, and how do you craft upgrades higher than 40%?

Understanding how the Once Human backpack expansion works is crucial. You can craft three different Gravel and Log On-the-Go tiers: 40%, 60%, and 80% reduction in weight variants. However, each tier requires increasingly rarer resources to craft. It’s important to note that the effects of multiple backpack expansions don’t stack, and each tier has a durability period of 14 days.

First, select the Gravel and Log On-the-Go backpack expansion in the Intermediate Workbench to upgrade your backpack expansion. Then, under the Cost section, you’ll see the materials needed to craft it. However, pay attention to the circular arrow icon above the picture of the material cost. Click this icon, and a new menu will pop up that lets you select from the three tiers and the crafting materials required to make them. Select which tier you want, and you can now craft an upgraded backpack expansion.

Now that you have used our Once Human backpack expansion guide to upgrade your Gravel and Log On-the-Go, you’ll be able to carry lots of materials without being slowed down while questing.
