Palia is a cozy, community-centered MMO with foraging, crafting, fishing, and home building. Featuring a delightful cast of NPCs, there’s always something to do for someone. However, getting advanced recipes, crafting plans, and equipment can cost quite a sum. Without cash to buy these things, the game can feel sluggish with little progression. To remedy that, here’s how to make money fast in Palia.
How to Make Money Fast in Palia
Early in Palia, you’ll want to focus on a few things to make money fast:
- Foraging
- Fishing
- Bug Catching
- Cooking
These four skills will get you the most money for your time when starting out. They’re easy to pick up, and you get almost all the equipment for free right away. Unless a villager wants something for their Weekly Want, you’ll want to sell the items you get from these activities.

Make Money Fast Method 1: Foraging
Foraging is the best way to make money fast in Palia. It includes wood you cut, as well as flowers, bushes, oysters, coral, and shells you pick up in the environment. Picking up everything should be your focus, but pay attention to the extra shiny items. When you pick shiny items, you’ll get a quality version of the item, represented by a star, which sells for extra.
- Sundrop Lilies, though worth only 10 gold a piece, are extremely prevalent throughout all areas of Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay. You can easily gather 10-15 of them a day, netting you at least 100 gold.
- Another easy one to gather is Mountain Morel, found growing around your plot as well as in Kilima Valley. You want to hold on to these until you can start cooking instead of selling them, however.
Make Money Fast Method 2: Fishing
Once you get your first round of mail, you’ll be able to start fishing. You don’t even need to leave your home to begin. Just take your rod to Mirror Pond to the left of your plot, and cast away. Fish can be sold as is until you learn the Grilled Fish recipe.
When you leave your plot, cast your line at any spot that has rippling water, as that almost guarantees a star-quality fish. Star-quality fish sell for more and should be sold as is instead of cooked. That guarantees you the highest sale during the early stages of the game.
Make Money Fast Method 3: Bug Catching
Catching bugs isn’t the most efficient way to make money fast in Palia, but it can pay off if you’re persistent and lucky. This is the hardest skill for me to perfect, but it can bring big yields. Auni will gift you the bug-catching belt and smoke bombs when you speak with him on your plot.
The Common Blue Butterfly and Kilima Night Moth sell for 12 gold but are the lowest-valued bugs you can collect. Epic rare bugs, such as the Fairy Mantis, sell for over 100 gold each. Just like foraging, you can catch bugs while out exploring Palia.
Make Money Fast Method 4: Cooking
You first learn to cook from Reth, who gives you the recipe for Grilled Mushrooms and the plan for Campfire. Once you have the campfire built, grill up all the Morels you’ve collected. After grilling up some mushrooms, return to Reth to tell him of your success.
After a day or so, he’ll mail you recipes for Grilled Fish, Grilled Oyster, and Grilled Meat.
- You make money fast by selling your oysters raw than by cooking them.
- Grilled Mushrooms and Grilled Fish both sell for the same price the individual ingredients sell for. However, the aim is to start randomly cooking star-quality meals without using star-quality ingredients.
I found selling star-quality Grilled Fish and star-quality Grilled Mushrooms quickly netted me enough to purchase the needed plans for the basic Sawmill and Smelter, as well as the first bag expansion from Zeki. For example, star-quality Grilled Fish increased the price to 60 gold from the regular 43 gold. This may not seem like a big difference, but it quickly adds up.
That’s how to make money fast in Palia. With a little practice, you’ll be reeling in star-quality fish and catching rare bugs in no time. For more on the game, check out our growing Palia guides hub.
