Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Indigo Disk DLC: How to Get All Johto Starters

Love the second generation? Here's how to get the Johto Starters in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet The Indigo Disk.

The newest DLC has finally brought back fan favorite Pokemon that we haven’t had access to for years. If you love the second generation of Pokemon as much as I do, you’re in for a treat. We’ll show you how to get the Johto Starters in the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Indigo Disk DLC

How do You Unlock Johto Starters in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Indigo Disk DLC?

Before you can catch the starters from Gold and Silver, you’ll have to play through the main story of the Indigo Disk. Shortly into the intro, you’ll gain access to the League Club Room and the ability to collect Battle Points (BP), a new type of currency for the DLC.

You can spend BP to unlock new features and upgrade parts of the world. You’ll need to buy an upgrade from one of the Terarium Club’s options. These allow new Pokemon to spawn in the four different biomes of the map, like the starters. Each Terarium Club boost will cost 3,000 BP, so you’ll need to grind for the points.

Best Way to Farm Battle Points (BP)

To get BP, all you have to d o is complete Blueberry Quests. They’re easy and can be completed while playing the game like you normally would. The quests usually involve simple stuff like picking up items or traveling a certain distance. If you finish 10 quests, you’ll unlock a big one that could score you anywhere from 100 to 200 BP. So, the trick is to zip through those first 10 quests and then dive into the big ones when they pop up.

I found it easiest to knock out these quests when I bundled them up. If I had to sneak up on a Pokemon and catch one in separate quests, I’d just do them both at once. To check out your quests, just tap the right button on the D-pad. Easy peasy!

Where to Find All of the Johto Starters

Each starter will be found in a different biome on the map. If you want all of the starters, you’ll need to purchase multiple Terarium Club Boosts.

  • Chikorita: Polar Biome Boost.
  • Totodile: Savannah Biome Boost.
  • Cyndaquil: Canyon Biome Boost.

I found that the best way to catch the starters is with a Quick Ball, which has a x5 catch rate on the first turn. If you don’t catch it the first turn, just run away and try again, it shouldn’t take long.

How to Unlock Other Johto Starters after Biome Boost

The Biome Bosses will also make starters from other generations appear like the Kanto Starters.

  • Totodile
  • Snivy
  • Fennekin

Coastal Biome
