Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Teal Mask: How to Get and Evolve Sewaddle

The Sewaddle line makes a comeback in The Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Here's how to evolve it.

The Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet features a long list of new and old Pokemon, including the Sewaddle line from Generation 5. The timid Bug/Grass-type evolves into Swadloon and Leavanny, retaining its dual typing. Luckily, Sewaddle appears throughout Kitakami, so finding and catching this Pokemon won’t cause you too much trouble. Evolving it is a different story. Here’s how to get and evolve Sewaddle in the Teal Mask DLC.

You’ll find Sewaddle lingering in the grass and rice paddies along Kitakami Road as soon as you arrive in the new region. In fact, the pint-sized caterpillar was the first Pokemon I caught on my own playthrough. Sewaddle also spawns in several other locations across the map, namely Mossfell Confluence and the Wisteria Pond in Wistful Fields.

To catch one easily, I recommend using Net Balls. This increases the catch rate for both Bug and Water-type Pokemon.

Sewaddle will first evolve into Swadloon at Level 20. Achieving this milestone will be a piece of cake, considering the wild Sewaddle in Kitakami spawn at Level 57 and up. To evolve your Pokemon quickly, you can use a Rare Candy. Otherwise, you’ll have to earn experience for your Sewaddle by battling other Pokemon.

Once you have Swadloon, you can work on evolving it into Leavanny. This will require high friendship. Depending on your personal preferences, you can accomplish this in a few ways. The Soothe Bell and friendship-booster berries, like Grepa and Pomeg, can come in handy and help shave off some time.

That said, I’ve found the easiest way to raise friendship is to set up a picnic and bathe my Pokemon after they’ve taken damage in battle. This both restores a Pokemon’s health and increases affection in no time. Look for two hearts above Swadloon’s head, indicating its friendship is high enough to evolve. When you’re ready, just level up Swadloon once more to see it evolve into Leavanny.

That’s how to get and evolve Sewaddle in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. In all, you’ll add three new entries to your Kitakami Pokedex among the likes of new Pokemon, like Sinistcha and Dipplin.
