Recently, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS introduced a new line of Battle Royale-inspired clothing to the game. While the clothing is purely cosmetic, some players became a little… concerned about paid cosmetic content in an EarlyAccess game, while others thought the idea was okay.
Regardless, the new outfits are here to stay, so here’s how to get all the newest clothing in PUBG. You’ll need to get Crate Keys in order to unlock some of the special crates that contain these items.
How to Get Keys for Gamescom Invitational Crates in PUBG
Just like the other crates, you’ll need to purchase Gamescom Crates with your BP, and you’re limited to 6 Gamescom Crates per week. But the Gamescom Invitational Crates come with a lock — so you’ll also need to purchase a key. First, here’s what these special crates will cost you in BP:
- 1st Crate: 1,200 BP
- 2nd Crate: 2,400 BP
- 3rd Crate: 4,800 BP
- 4th Crate: 7,200 BP
- 5th Crate: 9,600 BP
- 6th Crate: 12,000 BP
Each crate you buy also needs a key, which you can go about getting in a couple ways:
- Buy one through the Steam store.
- Purchasing a key beforehand (also from the Steam store) using this handy link.
- Note: The link provided there allows you to purchase one key at a time, and you can change the number of keys by changing the last number in the URL.
Once you have a key, you can open the Gamescom Crate and get to the sweet, sweet clothing inside. Each Gamescom Crate has a collection of Battle Royale-inspired clothing, and none of the clothing that was already in the game. Here’s the loot pool that the crate pulls from:
- Tracksuit Top
- Tracksuit Pants
- BR Cap
- BR T-Shirt
- Camo Hotpants
- Tracksuit Top (Yellow)
- Tracksuit Pants (Yellow)
- Mandarin Jacket (Black)
- School Shirt
- Pleated Mini-skirt (Black) / Slacks (Black)
- School Jacket
- School Shirt with Blue Necktie
- School Pants / School Skirt
- Sneakers (White)
- Velcro Trainers
- Bloody Sneakers
The Gamescom Invitational Crates will only be available until August 27th. After that, you’ll only be able to get the crates on the Steam Community Market. Keys for the crates will remain on the Steam store and in-game.
Survivor and Wanderer Crates in PUBG
When you decide to purchase a crate with your hard-earned Battle Points (BP), head to the in-game REWARDS page. You can buy a maximum of 6 crates per week, and the game determines randomly if you get the Survivor Crate or Wanderer Crate once you spend the BP.
Each crate you purchase costs more BP than the last, and you’re locked out of buying more once you purchase the 6th crate. But at least for this set of crates, you don’t need extra keys to open them. Here’s the pricing scheme:
- 1st Crate: 700 BP
- 2nd Crate: 1,400 BP
- 3rd Crate: 2,800 BP
- 4th Crate: 4,200 BP
- 5th Crate: 5,600 BP
- 6th Crate: 7,000 BP
Both the Wanderer and Survivor Crates get you ONE clothing item from the Battle Royale movie-inspired sets, as well as some clothing items that were already in the game before the latest update. These other clothing items were previously available from the now-discontinued Pioneer Crates.
Note that the Wanderer and Survival Crates do have a different loot pool. The Survivor Crate has Trench Coats, for example. Wanderer Crates have the Mandarin Jacket (Blue) and Pleated Mini-skirt (Blue) / Slacks (Blue) clothing set, and Survivor Crates have the Women’s Tuxedo Jacket (Purple) and Mini-skirt (Purple) / Slacks (Purple) clothing set.
