When you first start a new character in Remnant: From the Ashes, you only have a handful of traits at your disposal. As you open more areas and encounter new foes, you’ll unlock additional traits on that individual character, allowing you to spend any new points you get upgrading an increasingly varied number of traits. As the game gets tougher, you may be wondering if and how to respec your character and reset those trait points.
Good news and bad news. First, the good news: it’s a simple process to reset traits, and it only takes one item.
The bad? You have to beat the game to get that one item.
The Orb of Undoing
The item you need to obtain is The Orb of Undoing, and it can only be obtained by defeating the final boss in Remnant: From the Ashes. Once you have defeated that boss, check your inventory and you should find an Orb of Undoing.
It can only be used once, so make sure you have an idea what you want to do before you use it. It will reset your traits all back to zero, but every trait you’ve unlocked will remain an option to select. You will receive all your trait points back into your overall pool to redistribute as you see fit.
After you’ve beaten the final boss once, you can actually buy new Orbs of Undoing from Reggie, the guy who gave you the Dragon Heart at the beginning of Remnant: From the Ashes. He sells them for 2500 scrap; you will also need to reroll your world in order for him to have one in his inventory.
Remnant: From the Ashes requires some serious care in where you place your trait points on higher difficulties if you want to succeed. Respec your character and tackle that New Game+ with your traits completely optimized. Want more Remnant: From the Ashes?
