Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways: Weapon Fanatic Guide

You need to get all 22 weapons to complete the Weapon Fanatic challenge in RE4: Separate Ways. HEre's how to get them all.

One of the trickier Challenges in the Resident Evil 4 remake’s Separate Ways DLC is Weapon Fanatic, which requires you to find and obtain all 22 different weapons that are found throughout the game. In this guide we’ll go over all weapons in Separate Ways to get Weapon Fanatic.

Where to Find All the Weapons in RE4’s Separate Ways DLC

To unlock Weapon Fanatic, you have to obtain all 22 weapons, and weapon parts, that are available in Separate Ways. They don’t all have to be in your inventory or storage at the same time; you must simply have acquired them at some point over the course of a single save file.

Since the last three items on the list are completion or Challenge rewards, you can’t realistically accomplish Weapon Fanatic until you’ve beaten the game on Professional, which will take at least two trips through the game.

The easy-mode route to doing this is to run the game a couple of times to farm cash, then pick up an Infinite Rocket Launcher and blast through Professional difficulty. You won’t be able to earn an S+ rating at the end (that requires you to run Professional on a new save and still beat it in under two hours), but at least you’ll get all the unlocks that come with beating Professional.

Ada begins the game with the Blacktail, TMP, and Tactical Knife. As you progress through the game, the Merchant will eventually add the Red9, Punisher, Stingray, High-Power Scope, and Rocket Launcher to his sales list.

Ganados can occasionally drop Boot Knives, while Hand and Flash Grenades are commonly found in yellow item crates from the start of the game. (Kitchen Knives do not appear to count towards Weapon Fanatic at all.)

Heavy Grenades are added to the crates’ drop tables around the start of Chapter 5, at which point the Merchant will also sell you a crafting blueprint for them. Some players have reported that they didn’t get credit towards Weapon Fanatic until they’d personally crafted a Heavy Grenade, which may be a glitch.

The SR M1903 and its Scope can be found in Chapter 1, on the lower floor of the first cannon’s tower. It’s on the desk, near the weight you can destroy to raise the cannon.

The Blast Crossbow can be found in the Factory’s security room during Chapter 3. It takes up a lot of room in your attache case, so it might initially be difficult to fit into your inventory.

The Bio-Sensor Scope is in a briefcase next to the drainage valve in the Waterway during Chapter 4. Ada can equip it to either the Stingray or SR M1903 rifles, but unlike Leon, can’t find an SMG for it.

As you progress through the game, the Merchant will occasionally expand his inventory. By Chapter 7, he’ll offer the TMP Stock, Red-9, Red-9 Stock, Punisher, Laser Sight, Stingray, High-Power Scope, and Rocket Launcher for sale. He’s willing to sell these to Ada for pesetas, rather than Spinels.

The last three items for Weapon Fanatic are all unlocks. Completing all 7 of the Merchant’s side missions will let you purchase the Elite Knife in the Extra Content Shop on RE4’s main menu, which adds it to Ada’s storage.

On a second run through SW, you can purchase the Infinite Rocket Launcher from the Merchant for 1,500,000 pesetas. While Ada doesn’t have any of Leon’s spending shortcut charms like Luis or Rhino Beetle, this is easier to afford if you trade in your other guns towards purchasing it. A fully-upgraded firearm can easily go for a quarter-million pesetas if you sell it back to the Merchant.

The Chicago Typewriter is a reward for beating Separate Ways on Professional with an A ranking or better. Professional difficulty only becomes available once you’ve cleared SW on any other setting, including Assisted.
