Soon after you enter the capital of Vernworth, you’ll get a cutscene of a boy called Sven running from a guard. If you choose to help the boy escape the guard, you can meet him again later when he wants to buy an ornate box.
So should you buy the box for Sven in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
What Happens if You Buy the Box for Sven in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
If you buy Sven the box, he’ll become a valuable ally in the main missions due to his secret identity, and you’ll even get various rewards including Royal Attire for the Masquerade quest. To backtrack a little bit, if you choose to help Sven and lie to the guard, you’ll meet Sven later in front of Auriol’s shop. I found him haggling with Auriol about a green Ornate Box.
As soon as they stop, you can talk to Sven, and he’ll ask if you can buy the box for him. The box is 1000 gold pieces, but I had a 20% discount for doing the quest with Auriol’s daughter in Melve, so it was 800 for me. If you buy the box for him, he’ll thank you, and a quest will start where he says he’ll repay you in three days.
Until then, you can find him sitting on the city square giant statue fountain in the middle of Vernworth. You can talk to him here each day until the quest is up, and he’ll give you various useful consumables and materials like Warpstones. On the final day, he’ll give you his last reward before leaving, which is the Royal Attire set so you can attend the Masquerade in disguise. Throughout the quest, you’ll learn a little bit about his identity and that he’s not just a random boy.
Saving him from the guard and buying Sven the box also causes him to be friendly and helpful to the Arisen later on when you’re infiltrating the castle. That’s it for my guide on should you buy the ornate box for Sven in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Check out more of our Dragon’s Dogma 2 guides like the best pawn vocations to hire.
