Glass is one of Skyrim’s many miscellaneous crafting and construction resources, used primarily for creating alchemy labs and display cases for homes. Glass is not used to make glass armor sets, one of the best armor types in the game, as that instead requires malachite. There are a few different ways to obtain glass, and in this guide, we’ll walk you through each of them.
How to Get Glass in Skyrim
Glass is an item that is only available with the Hearthfire DLC installed for Skyrim. The fastest and easiest way to get glass is through purchasing it from merchants.
General goods merchants will sell glass, listed under their miscellaneous items, as will Khajit traders. Glass will cost you five gold a piece.
Khajit trader caravans can be encountered on the road, traveling from city to city doing business with passerby. When they reach their destination cities, they will set up camp outside the main entrance to do business with travelers. If you’ve completed a few quests for the Thieves Guild, then Khajit traders will purchase stolen goods from you.
If you’d rather not spend your precious gold, then there are some other options for you. Glass pieces can be found in cupboards in homes and ruins. These can be friendly homes or abandoned homes, and is fairly common to find, though it is still random. There aren’t any fixed locations to find glass, but if you tear apart every house you check out, you can find a lot.
You should always keep an eye out for glass spawns, as making these finds will save you from needing to buy glass down the line. This is all you need to know about finding this miscellaneous resource in Skyrim, but if you’re interested in learning more, you can always do so be checking out the guides in our Skyrim guides hub!
