Stardew Valley: How to Catch Albacore

Here's how to catch Albacore in Stardew Valley.

The Albacore is a common fish in Stardew Valley that “prefers temperature “edges” where cool and warm water meet.” However, that clue alone won’t tell you exactly where to find the aquatic creature. You may find yourself searching high and low across the game’s various areas only to come up empty-handed. Here’s how to catch Albacore in Stardew Valley.

Despite it being a relatively easy fish to catch, Albacore has a difficult minigame window. It can be caught between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. in Fall, making it less obtainable than other species. If you struggle to catch this fish during that time, you can wait until Winter between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., when there’s a bigger window.

Albacore can only be caught in the ocean by the beach. If you have a Beach Farm, you’re able to catch it there, too. Despite this being an ocean fish, it can’t be caught on Ginger Island. There’s no specific area on the beach you have to be on to catch it. Neither does the weather affect its availability. It can be caught when it rains or when it’s sunny.

Tips for Hooking Albacore

If you’re still struggling to catch Albacore because of its awkward schedule, you can craft Magic Bait, which will allow you to catch it at any time, day, or season. However, this item can only be obtained by Qi’s Walnut Room on Ginger Island.

Another way to increase the likelihood of catching an Albacore is to equip the Dressed Spinner tackle, which will increase the bite-rate when fishing (Fishing Level 8), as well as equipping bait, which causes fish to bite faster (Fishing Level 2).

What’s Albacore Used For?

When playing Stardew Valley, the Albacore is a fish that comes up quite frequently in quests, such as the “Fish Stew” quest and “Aquatic Overpopulation” on the Special Orders Board. Due to its popular demand, you’ll want to know when and where you can catch it as soon as possible, to make the townsfolk happy.

If appeasing the townsfolk doesn’t float your boat, the Albacore is a useful fish for cooking, as it can be used for two types of food recipes, which are necessary to make if you wish to unlock the “Gourmet Chef” achievement.

That’s how to catch Albacore in Stardew Valley. Hopefully, with this information, you’ll be able to catch one and use it for its many benefits, though we wouldn’t recommend it as a gift — unless you want an unkind reaction! For more, head over to our SDV guides hub here.
