In Starfield, you’re able to build an outpost on any planet you land on as a base of operations. They can act as a small home to generate resources, and it’s up to you how you want to use them. However, to build those outposts you’ll need Structural Material. Depending on how many and how big they are, you’ll likely need an abundant supply of it. So let’s go over how to get Structural Material in Starfield.
How to Get Structural Material
The easiest way to get Structural Material is by purchasing it at stores. There are plenty of general shops that you can go to. Each place will carry a different amount, so depending on how much you need, you’ll have to visit multiple vendors. The price may vary but you’ll often find Structural Material for around 10 credits. Although this is the easiest method, you’ll spend a lot of money if you go this route. Additionally, if you bought out all of the stores, you’ll have to wait a whole in-game day for them to restock.
If you’d rather save your credits, you can always go get some Structural Material on your own. You can find it while exploring different planets and scanning the area. Once you do that, you can see if there are any around to collect. Alternatively, you might encounter enemies that you can kill on these planets, allowing you to loot the resources afterwards.
You can also generate your own Structural Material. To do this, you’ll build certain modules that you can put in your outposts. They’ll automatically generate the material for you while you go out and do other things. However, you need to increase your skills in Outposts, Botany, and Zoology to unlock the ability to build the modules necessary.
If you want to build or upgrade your outposts in Starfield, you’ll need to get Structural Material through these methods. You can buy the resource from various shops, find it while exploring planets, or even generate your own. To find more tips and tricks, check out our other Starfield guides.
