There are 44 cockpit modules from five different manufacturers in Starfield. They all have different crew capacities, cargo bays, interior designs, and various other features that fit different types of ships. The layout of the bridge and overall visibility will likely be two big focuses when building a ship, but it may take a while before you can get some of these cockpits. Our guide will provide you with a list of the Top 10 best cockpits in Starfield, including tips on how to get them all.
Top 10 Best Cockpits and How to Get Them in Starfield
Here’s a quick breakdown of the Top 10 best cockpits in Starfield:
- Cabot C3 2-Crew Bridge
- Viking CP-100 4-Crew Cockpit
- Magellan C2X 2-Crew Cockpit (NASA)
- Kon-Tiki B-300 4-Crew Bridge
- Overseer 300 2-Crew Bridge
- DS10.1 Phobos 6-Crew Cockpit
- Shogun Enhanced 2-Crew Cockpit
- Himeji Command 2-Crew Bridge
- Kon-Tiki B-500 6-Crew Bridge
- DS40.2 Ares 8-Crew Bridge
Cabot C3 2-Crew Bridge
It’s no secret that Nova Galactic produces some of the most convenient cockpits in Starfield. The Cabot C3 model is also the only one that has stairs instead of ladders, which makes moving around the ship so much easier and faster. It also has a huge cargo capacity (280) and requires no skills whatsoever. That’s why I consider it the best two-crew cockpit in the game!
- How to get Cabot C3 Bridge: Purchase it for 1,000 Credits from the Ship Services Technician at New Homestead, Sol.

Viking CP-100 4-Crew Cockpit
If you specifically want to move cargo on your freighter ship, then you need a cockpit that can easily host at least four crew members and a decent amount of cargo (200) all at once. That’s where Stround-Eklund cockpits are truly the best, although their boxy design may not be to everybody’s liking. This cockpit is also quite cheap in comparison to other models, and just like the Cabot C3, it requires no skills or levels.
- How to get Viking CP-100 Cockpit: Purchase it for 700 Credits at one of the following vendors:
- Narion, Havershaw
- Kryx, Jasmine Durand
- Porrima, Lon Anderssen
- Cheyenne, Ship Services Technician (Akila City)
- Ixyll, Ship Services Technician (Eleos Retreat)
- Volii, Ship Services Technician (Neon)
- Porrima, Ship Services Technician (Paradiso)
- Narion, Ship Services Technician (The Clinic)
Magellan C2X 2-Crew Cockpit (NASA)
It’s true that you need to purchase most of the cockpits in Starfield, but there is one solid free option: the Magellan C2X. Although it’s a Nova Galactic bridge and Frontier’s signature cockpit, it’s not as spacey as the Cabot module. But it has a similarly large cargo capacity (260), and it requires you to have only Starship Design rank 1.
- How to get Magellan C2X Cockpit (NASA):
- Travel to Nova Galactic Research Station at Luna, Sol.
- Start the “Unearthed” quest by accessing the computer.
- Reasearch information about NASA and the Artifact.
- Speak to the Emissary to unlock the Magellan C2X cockpit.
Kon-Tiki B-300 4-Crew Bridge
If you’re ready to spend a bit more money and the Viking cockpit looks too small for you, then opt for the Kon-Tiki B-300 model, which has a 50% larger cargo bay (300). The only thing that might be slightly uncomfortable here is the closeness at which other crew members sit to a pilot, but this bridge has no requirements, so it’s a really small drawback.
- How to get Kon-Tiki B-300 Bridge: Purchase it for 1,500 Credits from Havershaw at Narion.
Overseer 300 2-Crew Bridge
Now let’s talk about cockpits for combat ships. These are usually much more expensive and can fit no more than two crew members. But Overseer 300 has excellent visibility and improved security, which allows you to target enemy ships more effectively. It could have a better attachment mechanism, but it’s not the only cockpit that suffers from this design flaw. You’ll also need only Starship Design rank 1 to be able to buy this cockpit.
- How to get Overseer 300 Bridge: Purchase it for 13,000 Credits at one of the following vendors:
- Valo, Inaya Rehman
- Valo, Ship Services Technician (HopeTown)
DS10.1 Phobos 6-Crew Cockpit
If you’re actively looking for a solid combat cockpit, but the price of the Overseer seems a bit too much, then I’d recommend getting the Deimos Phobos cockpit. It’s much more accessible, and it’s focused entirely on combat visibility. It supports a crew of up to six people, but there’s no room for extra cargo in here.
- How to get DS10.1 Phobos Cockpit: Purchase it for 4,000 Credits at one of the following vendors:
- Sol, Nikau Henderson
- Sol, Ship Services Technician (Cydonia)
- Alpha Centauri, Ship Services Technician (Gagarin)
- Alpha Centauri, Ship Services Technician (New Atlantis)
- Wolf, Ship Services Technician (The Den)
Shogun Enhanced 2-Crew Cockpit
Once you get some progress on your character and you get tired of the same bulky design of most utilitarian cockpits in Starfield, then opt for a more luxurious Shogun cockpit from Taiyo Astroneering. This particular cockpit becomes available once you reach level 22 and Starship Design rank 2.
- How to get Shogun Enhanced Cockpit: Purchase it for 13,000 Credits at one of the following vendors:
- Porrima, Lon Anderssen
- Cheyenne, Ship Services Technician (Akila City)
- Volii, Ship Services Technician (Neon)
- Narion, Ship Services Technician (The Clinic)
- Volii, Veronica Young
Himeji Command 2-Crew Bridge
If you’re building a racing ship, then the Himeji Command bridge from Taiyo Astroneering may be even more fitting than the Shogun cockpit. It has a sleek design of the dashboard and the shape of the front glass, as well as a much larger cargo bay (340). But to buy this ship, you’ll need to reach at least level 33 and Starship Design rank 3.
- How to get Himeji Command Bridge: Purchase it for 25,000 Credits at one of the same vendors that sells Shogun Enhanced Cockpit.
Kon-Tiki B-500 6-Crew Bridge
When you’ll consider getting a larger freight ship with more crew members and cargo capacity at the later stages of the game, this cockpit will be a serious contender. It fits six crew members in a pretty vast room with a significant cargo bay (360). You could also opt for a B-600 model, but the increase in cargo capacity might not be worth the increase in price. So if you’ve decided to buy this mode, then you’ll need to reach level 34 and Starship Design rank 3.
- How to get Kon-Tiki B-500 Bridge: Purchase it for 45,000 Credits from Havershaw at Narion.
DS40.2 Ares 8-Crew Bridge
Finally, your endgame ship will require a corresponding cockpit, and there are no bigger cockpits in the game than Deimos Ares models. These are the only cockpits that can crew up to eight people with not one but two pilot seats. It’s a massive cockpit with a huge cargo bay (360), and you’ll need to reach at least level 38 and Starship Design rank 3 to be able to buy it.
- How to get DS40.2 Ares Bridge: Purchase it for 69,000 Credits from Nikau Henderson at Sol System.
