As you explore the mines, you’ll find gaps you can’t yet cross. Like me, you’ll want to explore every inch of the underground to amass resources, but how do you get to these seemingly inaccessible areas? Here’s how to cross chasms using Bridges in SteamWorld Build.
How to Make Bridges to Cross Chasms in SteamWorld Build
You can cross chasms in SteamWorld Build by constructing Bridges. This type of buildable object is available in the Infrastructure tab when you’re looking at the underground mine floors and levels. There is, however, a key milestone that you need to reach in your playthrough before you can start placing them.
The goal is to have at least 200 Engineers, which is done by converting your Worker Residentials into Engineer Residentials. Apart from the necessary resources, each housing also needs to have a 100% satisfaction rating. I suggest paying attention to the production and service buildings in town.
How to Use Bridges in the Mines
Once you’ve reached the “200 Engineers” milestone, you’ll be able to construct Bridges in SteamWorld Build. As noted earlier, you can find this object in the Infrastructure tab. Each Bridge tile costs 200x Money, 2x Boards, and 2x Sheet Metal.
Coincidentally, some chasms are larger or have uneven angles. As such, you can expect to make multiple Bridges just to get across. I wrote various guides about other resources, such as Money, Scrap, and Tools so you can take a look at those if you need to amass more materials.
In any case, the Bridges should help you reach new areas and gather more items underground. You’ll also find new discoveries that help you proceed to lower floors.
That’s how to make bridges to cross chasms in SteamWorld Build. Now that you’re roaming underground caverns, you might want to learn about how to prevent mine collapses and how to detect resources. For more tips and strategies, you can check out our SWBuild guides hub.
